Re: lexmark X83 all-in-one printer

Hi gerby, need to eliminate a few issues to get to the cause. First, check for a jam. Paper jams can be so tiny you can barely notice them. Use a torch and check thoroughly down back of unit in paper feeder, open cover, let cartridge carriage roll left and settle. Now look inside thoroughly too. If no jam, check rollers are even and look same on each side. Post back if no good.

My lexmark x83 is making a clicking noise and will not pull paper through.

hello, the problem with your machine is a gear that drives the paper feed section, not the paper feed roller but the platen roller, well its cracked, unless you have an identical machine, you will not be able to repair this printer, i have tried. so, this machine has performed for you extremely well, but now it time to look for another one. sorry

Paper will not feed through the printer . . , ''paper jam'' message appears . How can i open the printer to check for a paper jam? I have a Lexmark X83 printer/copier/scanner.

behind the printer there is the tray that can be opened easily to check if the printer is jammed in or the paper feed sensor is stuck up.just open the back tray of your printer and check.
get back if you require more assistance on this.

Paper will not feed

its a software issue for me..

I suggest that you will load compatible firmware to your printer...

that's why the printing performance of your printer is very slow..

X83 lexmark A06 error (paper jam)

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Sounds like there is something like a part of a sticky address label, or a piece of other paper stuck inside.

Take a heavy piece of card stock and feed it through the paper path. Chances are, when you get the card stock all the way through, it will push out the offending object that is hung in the paper path.

LEXMARK X83 PRINTER 1) A few times papers jammed too far back to pull out from the front so i pulled them out the back. Now when the paper feeds there is a clicking noise and the papers feed only...

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
