I have the same problem but says init wait close on the SC-PT1050

  • rochester08 Aug 15, 2008

The bottom tray slides in slightly when the unit is powered up, there's a grinding sound, and then it slides out slightly and the unit says "please wait" and won't do anything. I pulled the tray unit out. This happened once before and they said there was a gear that was broken. This time the repair shop refuses to even look at it. Everything looks fine, but I can't figure out how to get at the actual mechanisms.

but we have no idea how to realign them it keeps binding up and we cant find a release for the trays so the gears can do what they have to do and be set back to normal

I've just spent the last 3 nights trying to fix that same issue with my sa-ht670 player. I ended up pulling out the dvd tray assembly, and making sure there wasn't anything broken inside or obstructing other pieces. Come to find out, my 1 year old had pulled on one of the trays and it pulled the tray off it's tracks. After that, it would just go to "init please wait" forever. I pulled the side track cover off and aligned the tracks manually. Everything had to be absolutely perfect or else you'd get nothing. After the fact, I realized that there were two holes in the bottom of the player that you can take a spare small gear (which is attached to the plastic cover on top of the dvd tray assembly) and stick it in there and manually adjust the tray positions to make sure everything is aligned properly. After messing with it three days, it ended up being quite simple to fix. Everything works like a charm now. If you need details, feel free to email me.

My system says INIT please wait and the cd/ dvd trays are out of line i tinkle a little with electronics and feel that if i knew a little more about this problem I can fix it myself, especially due to high...

  • First you to pull out the DVD tray assembly and check to make sure there is not anything that has broke inside there. Make sure nothing is blocking the trays from moving.
  • Now pull the side cover off. There is a spare gear on the top of the DVD tray assembly. You will take that and place it in the two holes at the bottom of the player. This will allow you to manually adjust the trays. If you don't have this gear you can align the tray manually but it has to be real perfect.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

eject the cd tray and use canned air to clean the inside of the cd/dvd unit, just use stick the nozzle near the opening and give it a through dusting. after that, run a cleaning disc through it a few times.

if that doesn't clear up the problem, the dvd player will need to be serviced, most likely either a lens replacement or re-alignment.

hope this helps,

Says wait, won't play dvd's at all

Hi,
Yes you are right, this will happen only when tray mechanism is not working at that time lense will try to read but it will be still under wait condition,
to resolve your issue you need to replace entire tray with lense set to work properly.

Panasonic SA-HT680 Home theater problem

Try these steps to reset the unit. I got these from the Panasonic Cust. Service # 1800-211-7262
1. Unplug the unit power.
2. Wait 2-3 mins before replugging the unit.
3. Turn it on.
4. If the display shows INIT / PLEASE WAIT, Press and HOLD the Tune Mode (STOP) button on the main unit. At the same time press #10 (Channel button) in the remote control. They have to be pressed & held simultaneously for atleast 5 seconds. Wait till the INIT / Please Wait display disappears.
5. Once the message disappears, RESTART the main unit by pressing the POWER button OFF / ON.
6. If it does not work, try several times. If it does not work, contact a local repair shop (call them to find out a repair shop near you). If the repair shop wont do it for you, call them back - thats what they told me.
