Question about Waterway Spa Pump Executive 56 Frame 4hp Dual Speed 2" Intake 2" Discharge

Open Question

Hi, I just got an Executive 56 waterway pump

Hi, I just got an Executive 56 waterway pump (PF-30-2N22M) installed in my hot tub. I understand that this is a 4 hp pump. The spa dealer who installed the pump said it's got a one year guarentee. However, he said the guarentee is only good for the spa dealer, not the consumer. Is this true? Is there any way I can get information about my specific pump? Is there a serial number or something to identify it and when it was originally purchsed by my spa dealer?

SOURCE: Leaking #1 pump on Arctic Spas Cub hot tub.

You don't need to replace the entire pump. The mechanical seal can be replaced quite easily by someone who knows what he is doing.

The only problem that you ma encounter is with removal of the pump impellor. It can take considerable force to unscrew the impellor from the pump shaft and there are special tools available to help although you may as well just leave the job to a professional. Sometimes the impellor can be seized onto the shaft, especially if it has been leaking for some time and if it's seized you will need to break the impellor off and buy a new impellor too.

I'm a spa tech from the UK and I replace these seals regularly, I'm actually replacing one tomorrow for a customer. If anyone in the UK is having a similar problem and need help please feel free to get in touch:

SOURCE: How do I remove the wet end of the pump from the

Take the screws off the outer cover fo the wet end. That will expose the impeller.
At the other end of the pump is a small metal cap in the middle. Pry that off with a screwdriver. That reveals the shaft of the motor which has a slot in it. This allows you to hold the shaft still with a large screwdriver.
While someone holds the shaft with a big screwdriver, you rotate the impeller counter clockwise to unscrew it off the motor shaft.
In my case the impeller was so caked onto the shaft with rust that we could not loosen it. We broke the impeller and still could not unscrew it. The screwdriver keeps jumping out of the slot in the shaft.
So the next step was to take the shaft out of the motor. On the far end of the motor are 4 small looking bolt heads. Undo those. They go right through the motor into the 4 legs of the wet end.
Stand the motor up with the wet end up. Pull hard to pull the wet end motor cover off the motor and you will then have the wet end and armature of the motor in your hands. Heavy.
Place some wood into a large vice and then grip the big silver part of the armature in the vice. Then unscrew the impeller.

SOURCE: my new waterway executive 56 4 hp dual speed motor blew a 30 amp fuse when i started it for the first time. what is the problem ?

OK 750 watts per HP = 3000 watts or about 30 amps at 115VAC. You will need 40 amp breaker for that pump and No. 8 wire between the breaker and pump if you are using 115VAC. The inrush current on the motor would be high enough to trip a 30 amp breaker.
On the other hand, if it is running on 220VAC you may have the motor wired wrong. Read the instructions that came with the motor.

I have a Waterly Executive Pump PF-40-2N22C\r\nI

Waterway did change the wet ends slightly (the difference is only minute and you wouldn't realise without meausring) and if yours is the older version you may need to change the entire wet end.

I'd advise you to take the pump to someone who can advise you and perhaps consider changing the entire wet end so that you have a new mechanical seal too.

If you're in the UK I can possibly help but I suspect that you're in the US...
