SOURCE: I am trying to backup

You may have a corrupted driver for your PMD. See if the manufacturer as a driver or HP.
Microsoft Windows drivers must have an INF file in order to be installed. An INF file is a text file that contains all the information necessary to install a device, such as driver names and locations, registry information, version information, that is used by the Setup components.

SOURCE: sound does not work on computer when i go on

Hi,

This would point the sound driver either being corrupted or not installed correctly. If this is the case then you need to reinstall the driver/s.

I have linked the download to the driver for you here http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T5048.

Hope this helps,

Karlos

No sound in chat rooms with windows7 64bit

With the Yahoo! Messenger application, you can chat with friends and family over the Internet, and you can also use the contacts you have from your Yahoo! email account. In addition, the application allows you to enter chat rooms, play games, share pictures and transfer files. Using the preferences on your Yahoo! Messenger, you can enable the application to play a sound when you receive a new message, and you can also have your own customized sounds played.

1.Open the Yahoo! Messenger application on your computer. Click on the "Preferences" option from top toolbar menu.
2.Click on the "Alerts and Sounds" option from the Preferences window on the left side of the application.
3.Click on the box next to the "Enable alert sounds" fields and then click on the "I receive a message in Yahoo! Mail" option below the "Alert me when" heading.
4.Click on the box next to the "Playing a sound" field below the "Alert me by" heading and then click on the "Browse" button.
5.Select a sound file from your computer that you want to be used with Yahoo! Messenger and then click on the "OK" button.
6.Click on the "OK" button again and the sound you choose will be enabled in the Yahoo! Messenger application.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

Im using a windows 7 os the problem is that when i connect an speaker on its audio jack, it do not have a sound. help please

Double click on My Computer, click on system properties, and on the left panel there should be a link that says Device Manager, click on it. Click on Sound, Video, and Game Controllers to see if the proper audio drivers installed.
If they are missing, go the manufacturer website, select your model of computer, select the operating system, and download the proper audio drivers.
Install them and once it's finished, reboot the computer and you should be good.

What should i do because my lop top no sound?

If you had sound at one point then what this calls for is a system restore. Click start --> Run --> Type restore --> Click Ok --> Double click on rstrui --> This will bring up a window and find a restore point before your sound stopped working.
If you didn't have sound before; You need to go to the computer manufactor's website(say Dell) and get drivers for your model of computer.
If neither of these work I would venture to say that your sound card is bad. You probably will want to have someone(local computer store) replace the sound card for you.

My sound on my computer dosen't work (mixer devise)

First, look on the bottom of your screen next to where the clock is in the right hand corner. There are small icons that open virus and other software that runs in the background. One should look like a silver, round thing. It is spoused to be a speaker. Double click on it and check to see if your sound somehow got muted. If so, uncheck the boxes.

Make sure no one put headphones on that overides the speakers.

The next easiest thing to do is to turn off your computer, unplug your speakers and restart without them on. Shut down again and plug the speakers back in. If there is still nothing, it could be that your sound card driver got corrupted or changed with a recent update of windows.

After that, go to Windows update website and set the update finder so that you can choose what gets downloaded. You would want to look for hardware updates.

From here, things get a llittle more complicated, so if you need help, try to find someone who can help. Your sound card is what controls sound on your computer. A driver is just software that controls the sound card.

The simplest place to find out about all the devices in and on your computer is in the control panel in the system folder. Depending on how you have Windows set, when you open your control panel, you either see the "classic or category view." See pic below. Choose classic view that appears on left upper side of the screen.
a3c887f.jpg The folders are listed alphabetically, so look for the system folder. There are red arrows inserted next to sound folder and system. Double click on the system folder and then click the hardware tab on top. Open the device manager. You will see a list of things like the one on the right in the pic below.
588a84e.jpg
The + sign next to devices opens the list. If you see and exclamation point, that means that the device has a problem. If you see a red X, that means it is disabled. You will see sound, video and game controllers listed alphabetcially. Click the plus sign. The list of devices opens. You can check the driver and function of each device by double clicking on it. Remember, you are in the controller area, so speakers won't be listed here.

Look at the list you opened for something that says digital sound. When you double click on the sound card, it will tell you if it is working properly. It should say something specific, not generic stuff. The driver tab on top will tell you when the last driver was installed.

If it is new, that is probably the issue. If not, it may be corrupted. Click update driver and go on internet to find a better one.

If none of that works, click the system devices tab and look for speakers. Go through the same list of checks. You can unplug speakers from the computer and just use the little speaker inside the computer to see if the problem could be the speakers themselves.

Last but most likely to cause problems is to remove your sound card and reinstall it. The problem here could be that windows hardware setup won't find it or the right driver and you won't have sound at all. Most sound card manufacturers have free driver updates that you can download, but it is critical that you know the name and version of your sound card to get the right one. I hope this helps, leave comments if you need further assistance.

Sound

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, then double click the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. Make sure the Mute box isn't checked and the Volume bar is at least 1/2 way on the Volume tab. Also click the Speaker Volume tab and adjust the sound there as well if needed. You might also want to check the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" icon so you can easily adjust the sound settings next time.
