Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have the singer futura xl-400. It's making me crazy! The embroidery is beautiful, when you can get it to work. I send the design to the machine, it will start stitching perfectly and then it starts sewing lines up and down, over and over. I take it out reset the machine and it will start stitching, in a different place! It inconsistent and I can not understand why the brain just goes crazy! Please help!

Sometimes a design may not be perfect, try embroider the other designs that you have in the library, if similar problem crops up, close your files & switch off your machine & your PC, then start it all over again, if still not OK you may choose to reinstall your XL400 software then go over it again. Hope be okay.

Thank you josephamoi! I think I found the problem! The embroidery attachment would not lock in place, it never has locked, I thought that was the way it was supposed to be. Last night, just before hitting it with a sledge hammer(lol), I was looking at the locking clip, I accidentally got it to click in and it has not missed a stitch since! I have hated this machine! Now I am very proud to own it!

SOURCE: SINGER XL1000 SEWING MACHINE

Hi Peggy,

I know this want be easy for you.  I need any kind of part number you can get off the LCD screen.  Is it a display and you type the different stitch stuff into a keypad?  Or , is the LCD a touch screen that you touch the screen to select a stitch?  I do not have one of these Sewing machines, but I do Electronics repair. Is your Screen Black and not displaying anything?  I believe we can work through this and get you a repair solution. The back light may have gone out on the screen only. Please reply with more info, so that we can get you a solid solution.  By the way, Singer really does not make those anymore.  They are making a more modern Screen at this time. Usually after 5 years, the manufacturers stop making parts for a model. Good news though, we can work on repairing the one you have. Go to Ebay and see if we can buy a XL1000, or other venue to rob the parts from.

SOURCE: Singer futura ce-200 problem, pattern mis-alignment

I have had similar problems in the past.
Do you hear a noise from the embroidery unit when the misalignment occurs ? If so, I suspect that your issue may be that you have some resistance under the hoop. Is there extra material that may be rubbing on the machine or catching somewhere. I have found that if I use some masking tape to keep all of the extra material from hitting any other parts of the machine or dragging under the edge of the hoop this error does not occur. FYI: I also stopped using the "optimize stitch speed" option at the same time. I believe that material dragging was causing the problem, but I still wonder about the stitch speed optimization feature.

Try re-threading the machine. Also, when you put the thread trough the clear plastic part on the top left at the back, swish it back and forth a couple times before bringing it all the way through. It is a little tip someone told me and seems to work wonders.

SOURCE: My Singer Embroidery machine works wonderfully on

HI,
Did you make sure that you raised the feed dogs? There is a sliding button on the front that you have to move sideways to let the feedogs come up. If not the fabric is not being move right and that may be the reason of the wrong stitching.
Also, are you oiling your machine appropriate?

SINGER QUARTET FOUR IN ONE HOOP ERROR

There are a couple of reasons that this can happen. First, download a patch on the singer Futura support site, www.futura-support.com. Download the patch, close the Futura program and double-click on the downloaded file. It may help with your error.

The second reason it can happen is because the USB plug on these machine is out a little too far, and the cable often doesn't seat quite as solidly as it should. Put the cable plug in the machine, making sure that it sits squarely and securely, and tape it in. When you unplug, do so from the computer side and leave it in

If you've applied the patch and taped the plug, the third reason might be the USB cable itself might have a loose wire, so that it works some time but not all the time. If that seems to be the case, try another cable.

Singer futura xl 400 problems

Skipping stitches are caused by a bent or poor quality needle, and never by software.
Use only Schmetz needles if you want good results.
Use Classe, Singer, Unique, Tailorform etc if you want poor results.
