What kind of vehicle are we talking about? Does it happen to both lights?
Check the voltage with a multimeter going into the ballast. Should be a constant 12V. If voltage is good swap ballasts and see if issue stays with ballast or side. If ballast is still behaving poorly its time for replacement.

Headlamps not working.

is the light setup one ballast for high and low beam ? if so the ballast has gone, probably even the bulbs. replace the ballast and bulbs. some aftermarket ballasts don't last, if you cannot find the right ballast for replacement you will need to replace both ballasts. as every ballast set are set the same and sold in pairs.

How to install HID to honda xrm 125

Did you buy a HID bulb or did you buy the kit with the ballast etc? Usually an HID lamp will come with a ballast and wiring loom which is per fitted with relays etc. you would normally plug this loom into the headlight socket of your bike's wiring and then tidy the ballast etc behind the fairing and replacing your bulb with the HID lamp. If you don't have the loom and ballast they're pretty easy to come by on the auction sites.

My ballast keeps malfunctioning. I put a new one in and it lasted about 15 minutes. Hid spotlights . What can you suggest that I can look for?

Let's start backwards.
First, look at your grounding system.
Be sure it is using heavy gauge wire, and that there is a direct connection with the car battery (or truck, or whatever). All new vehicles are more and more made of non-conductive material like plastics and fiberglass, etc., so that can interfere with all things electric.
Then, see about the wire and the connectors leading to the lights. Do those wires need to be bigger or heavier? One way to tell is if any wire in the system gets warm whilst it is being used.
Finally, be sure the ballast is "stronger" or "heavier" than the load ( the lights) due to the possibility of overload because of a mis-match.
Be blessed.

One side of my hids worked before something happened. I tried checking all the fuses and none seemed blown. So I tried plugging the broken hid kit on the side that worked and for a few seconds it work

This looks like a poor contact in the socket of the one "that worked before something happened". It may not be enough of a break to be seen easily so I suggest you simply replace it. If that is not possible try flexing the areas of the wires and the socket to see if you get intermittent contact.

2005 Lexus Rx330 Ballast problem??? First I saw my passenger side HID headlight was on and off and then mostly off. I thought the HID bulb burnt out. I bought a new one and replaced it. After I installed...

Well, we seem to have a real dilema here. I just searched the service manual for your 2005 RX330 and I cannot find any reference to a ballast for the HID headlamp bulbs. According to the wiring diagram, they are wired to the Headlamp Control Relays in Junction Block #2. (Right-hand side of the engine compartment) These relays are "Solid State", so my guess is that the balast for the HID may be built in to them. These are controlled by the Body Control Module. I would recommend scanning the body control module for fault codes before doing anything else. The first step in the diagnostic chart for the headlamp system is to perform a diagnostic systems check. There is a symptom chart to follow if there are no codes present, but if there are codes in the system, you could be shooting yourself in the foot trying to follow the symptom chart without first correcting any fault codes. This is not your fathers headlamp system - it is equipped with tracking control and automatic headlamp leveling...VERY sophisticated. Also lots of stuff that can break...this is what I call JOB-SECURITY- - LOL!

2005 Lexus RX330 HID ballast replacement, passenger side headlight. What is the removal procedure please?

I have a 2005 Lexus Rx330 with HID AFS headlight. My passenger side light went out. I thought the bulb burnt out, so I bought a new bulb. After replacing the new bulb, it happened exactly like my old bulb. It light up lightly and then total black out. What's wrong with it? I thought the ballast burnt. I called Lexus dealer and asked for the new ballast/transformer. Surprised me, they don't know what is it. They told me they only know the wiring harness and the socket, but not the ballast ??????? Could you tell me what do I need to replace?

Frong lamps

If you replaced your HID (high intensity discharge) bulb and this did not work, I would then check the fuses, if they are all good, there is a good possibility that the ballast is bad. Some manufacturers won't even sell the bulbs separately, you have to buy the ballast and bulb as a set. They both seem to have high failure rates.
