Question about eMachines Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a eMachine G640 and randomly my screen turns white and will remain white screen for around 1-30 mins and then it will return back to normal this can happen between 1-8 times a day and I do not see a pattern on when it occurs. If I plug the laptop into a monitor using a HDMI lead i can see my screen on the other screen.

SOURCE: My monitor will remain black when notebook is powered up

Your monitor may be configured for a mode that is not compatible with your display device. Start your PC in Safe mode by holding down the F8 key from a cold boot.  If your display comes up in 640x480 mode, then your problem is your display settings and can be corrected by right-clicking on your desktop, selecting PROPERTIES and then the SETTINGS tab.

If new settings do not work check your SLEEP settings in the control panel to make sure you are not "hibernating".

Failing all these, re-install the drivers for your display adapter from safe mode.

If your monitor did not come up in safe mode (remained black) enter your BIOS (CMOS) settings and ensure that your primary display is set correctly.

After these non-invasive things fail, take it back and get it covered under warranty, you have a hardware problem.

The phone turns on but the screen remains black.

remove your battery and SIM card for about an hour. make sure the phone has never been wet.....if you see a red sticker on the battery on below where the batter ysits, in the back of the phone, then the phone has been wet.

after the hour is up, put the phone back together and turn it on and see what happens.....the LCD couldve simply died, as this happens a LOT. you can find a replacement on eBay for pretty cheap, otherwise you'r elooking at a warranty exchange or buying a new phone outright.

Defective CCFL backlight may has the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp)
