Format memory images

You are using misleading words. You can format a memory card. And images can have a certain format, So I wonder what you mean.
Your camera can use the following format to save images:
5M (2592x1944pixels 4:3), 3M (2048x1536pixels 4:3),
2M (1920x1080pixels 16:9 )
VGA (640x480pixels 4:3)
To switch to another image format, press the Menu / OK button
Press the up down button till you see resolution then again press Menu / OK
with the up / down goto the format you want and press OK to confirm the selection.
The manual does not say anything about formatting the memory card. If you want to format a new memory card, put it in an external memory card reader and conner it to the computer. Format with FAT32. But my guess is, when you insert a memory card in the camera, it will show CD card inserted. that is the moment the camera will format the camera.

I purchased the Easy Share M580 Digital Camera with the battery charger for the KLIC-7006 battery-also included. I am taking a trip to Europe starting in Stockholm, Sweden - cruising the Baltic Sea to...

The charger should be 110 v ~ 220 v (it should be in the fine print on the charger itself). If it includes 220 v then you will not need a converter. If it only states 110 v, without stating 220v, then you will need a converter. In either case, you should have no issue finding the adapter or the converter in any ma and pa hardware store after arriving to the country you're visiting.
The battery life depends on the amount you're using the camera. It should last you a few days each full recharge.

Photo capacity

i'm pretty sure there's a button you can press which gives you options to change the sizes of your photos e.g. 2M, 3M, 6M
they make the file smaller and gives you more space to have a lot of photos
press around to see :)
hope this helped

■ Number of pixels
Select a higher number of pixels for clearer
pictures when printing.
Select a lower number of pixels [ ] (0.3M
EZ) to store more pictures. Fewer pixels also
means it is easier to send pictures by e-mail
or use them on a homepage.
■ When the aspect ratio setting is
3072 × 2304 pixels
DMC-LS60 only
2816 × 2112 pixels
(5M EZ)
2560 × 1920 pixels
(3M EZ) 2048 × 1536 pixels
(2M EZ) 1600 × 1200 pixels
(1M EZ) 1280 × 960 pixels
(0.3M EZ) 640 × 480 pixels

on the menu I believe the Panasonic calls it aspect ratio

Changing the picture resolution

Turn on your camera.
Trun the switch on the top of the camera to AUTO.
Press the middle button right of the display (x/-).
Then you can first change the size (7M, 6M, 5M, 5M, 3M, 1M).
If you now use the circle button on the right bottom and on this button you press up or down you can change the quality (very fine, fine, normal).
You can change the size and quality if you press left/right on the circle button.

DSC p72 blurring

Hello Steve, I've bought that very same camera myself, and i feel quite happy with it. I do know what you're refering to since i've dealt with that problem before. About the Blurring "effect", i'm affraid this is due to a lack of focus regulation from you. In this camera it is possible to achieve very good results once you control the Metering and Focus in an accurate way. In other words you'll have to take over the Focus and Metering control regularly. As you may know the Focus Options are (if i'm not mistaken) , infinite, 7m, 3m, 1m, 0.5m, center, multiple. Basically if you're indoors there's no need to use the infinite, center or multiple focus (except in specific situations), which you may keep to outdoor Shots. Indoors, you'll get far better results, intensively using the 0,5m, 1m, 3m or 7m. Hope i didn't put it to much confuse. Summing it up a bit, you'll have to use more often these controls according to each single situation. Please, let me know something wether it worked or not. Regards
