Question about Kenmore 63792 Microwave Oven

Open Question

Kenmore Microwave/Vent Hood Model 40185059210. Vent hood motor has blown three times. Sears will not fix it anymore, b/c they say it is water causing it to blow (from roof). However, the three times it has blown there has been a power surge. It is plugged into a surge strip, but it hasn't helped. Anyone else having this issue?

The problem is likely on the control panel, which we repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inopoerable or stuck on.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and

disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: Dead microwave!

Hi Kevin

If your microwave oven doesn't seem to work at all, check these:
Fuses Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.

Door switch If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.

If still you are unable to diagnose the issue then it is recommended to call a local repair center for this to get fixed as Microwave usually have high voltage even when it is turned off.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

My kenmore microwave will not work. The light stays on inside, buttons will push, but the start button does nothing. I've tried everything. The last thing I did was express defrost which was fine. Could it be something really simple? I hope so.

Check to see if fan is getting power. If it is and the fan does not turn then you need to replace that motor. Also check motor bearings - not uncommon for them to get all gunked up with yuck from the air they push through the hood.

Sears l kenmore microwave 665.60622000

Most Kenmore appliance manuals are available from Manage My Life. For the 665.60622000 microwave and range hood User's Guide, see http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/5728/KENMORE-Microwave-Hood-Combo-L0211211?brand_name_search=665.60622000 . This will load the PDF in the browser window if you have a PDF reader plugin. If you wish to download the manual, the direct link is http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0211211.pdf . You need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the file. If you want only the Installation guide, start here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/search?query=665.60622000 . Unfortunately, you will need to print your own copy from the PDF. (Alternatively, go to a print shop with the file on a flash drive and they will print the file for a fee.) Sears no longer has the manuals available for sale at Sears Parts Direct, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/All-Products-Parts/Model-66560622000/0582/0123370/P0080166/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= .

I hope this helps.

My Sharp carousal microwave model R 1482 goes on and off on its own. When cooking the steam from boiling water will set the micro off like I am pushing buttons on it.

If it's just the hood vent exhaust fan coming on, that's normal due to a temperature sensor (the hood vent exhaust TCO / thermostat).

If other functions on the microwave are coming on, then the keypad and / or controls may be shorting due to moisture and / or heat, and that needs to be addressed.

You should always run the microwave oven's hood vent exhaust fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top.

If you do, and the trouble persists, I would suspect the controls.

The service manual is at our site and we have uploaded it here to help you.

You can order any needed parts from the Sears Parts Direct Web siteimage-4235112-10659157 or Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Connect microvawe vent to exhaust pipe on ceiling

I would call Sears service (and ask for the manager) every day until they send the guy back with the right parts!

If that somehow doesn't work, you can order the parts at the Sears parts site.

You can find out which parts you need in the owner's / installation manual. If you don't have it,
you can just enter your full model number at the Sears parts site.

On the resulting page, look to the right for the blue "View manuals" button. Click there.

That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they list there are all free, they will ask you to register.

Many times, the owner's manual will have the installation instructions inside.

If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it through the
Sears parts site.

Kenmore elite microwave/vent hood model 721.80834500 turntable

I bought a Kenmore Elite Microwave Hood Combination Model 721.80823500 at Sears. The installer did not bring the parts to connect the vent to the pipe on the ceiling and never came back. I cannot find the vent/exhaust connetor part to have it installed. No one knows. I appreciate information or installer. Thanks.

My Kenmore 64663 still heats but I don'y hear the fan anymore while heating

If it's the internal cooling fan, you really need to get that repaired before you cook anymore with it. Otherwise, your magnetron will be destroyed.

If it's the hood / exhaust fan, then the problem may be the motor or a problem on the control board. If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number here at the Sears parts site.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number usually has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you don't feel confident to tackle it yourself, I would contact Sears for service.

Kenmore microwave shuts off after several seconds

Hopefully the hood / vent fan was always on when boiling on the stove top.

Otherwise moisture can get into and damage the keypad or control circuit board.

That may be the problem.

If this is a convection model, it may have a bad thermistor (not to be confused with a thermostat).

The full model has three more digits, in case you need more help and want to post that.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find an exploded view by entering your full model number here: http://www3.sears.com (the 3 is correct)

Kenmore microhood

"Microhood" seems to be a slang term for the "microwave hood" (hood fan or exhaust fan) which is normally part of an over-the-range microwave oven or range. But these should be available separately, as I seem to recall. I would contact home centers such as Lowe's, Home Depot (if they still exist), etc., or a local appliance store.
