Hello Steve, thank you for your inquiry! SY CE is commonly referred to an error code between the main control board and the user interface (the control on the Freezer door). A tech would typically check the communication wiring wires between both parts to determine the cause of the error code. If the wiring is correct, then more than likely you are looking at a faulty main control board or user interface since the MCB has already been replaced. I would please recommend reaching out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree - thanks for your question, and please do not hesitate to reconnect.

SOURCE: Freezer won't defrost

savey73,
I think I know what is wrong. First the defrost thermostat you are talking about I believe is the round metal type with possibly a pink and an orange wire coming out of it. That is not the defrost thermostat as most people know it. That is a defrost overheat termination thermostat that opens only over 140 degrees F, that is why your old good one and your new good one show closed at room temp. If you read on the outside of the metal cover you will find it has a L140 indicating the limit of 140 deg.
Now to what should be causing your problem. You should find on the evaporator coil at the top left side of the evaporator coil a part that has 2 white wires going into what looks like about a 1" long X 1/4" round plastic thing. That little white plastic thing is a THERMISTOR. If it is bad your defrost will not work. Sounds like that is the only thing you have not replaced. There is no polarization of the wires That should FixYa

SOURCE: Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

http://www.repairclinic.com/0100_1.asp
There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

First of all - make sure you route the green grounding wire connector from the board to one of the screws, holding the board cover. If you leave it hanging - you can kill the board if the wire touches some of the board elements.

Second - check what kind of sensors you have in your fridge. There are three of them: one in the fresh food section, and 2 in the freezer.

If any of the sensors has black compound where the wires enter the white plastic cylinder, you'll need to replace it with the newer one: WR55X10025

Locations: One behind the damper cover in fresh food section (far left top corner)
One in the far left bottom corner (small cover with 2 white wires to it)
One (which most likely makes the problem) is on top of the evaporator (coil in freezer section, behind the lower back cover). Ifyou replace any of them - make sure to insulate the splice points with food-grade silicone.

Hi

If you have unplugged the unit for at least 5 minutes and the error code keeps coming back then this will be a warranty concern. Any attempt by you to correct the problem aside from resetting the unit (unplugging it for 5 minutes resets the main control board) will void your warranty.you have to call the dealer or frigidiare service center.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.
Thank you for contacting fixya.com

Error code SY CE displayed plus lights in refrigerator and freezer not working

I appreciate your post, Carol!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying an error code of "SY CE" and the lights are not working. A "SY CE" error code stands for a communication error at start up. This might be a miscommunication within your refrigerator and I would recommend performing a reset in order to correct the issue. To reset your refrigerator you need to disconnect power from it for roughly ten minutes. If this does not help correct your issue you may need to change your control panel or a wiring harness. In order to properly diagnosis your refrigerator you may need to disassemble it and I would suggest having a professional technician out to do so. This will help you avoid any unnecessary part purchases or personal injury. -Matt

What does EI28BS36IS3 blinking lights mean

Are all of the lights flashing or is it flashing a code like Sy EF or Sy CE? If so the ef would indicate the evaporator fan circuit has a problem, and if it is SY CE it would indicate a communication error.

I have a very similar issue with my GE in wall oven, circa 1999. I learned it was due to one of two issues.
1. The touch panel keypad is shorting out somewhere along the ribbon wire circuit. Replacement likely needed.
2. The microcontroller brain of the oven is faulty. Replacement likely needed.
My issue was the keypad. I personally went to RadioShack and prototyped a new circuit board to reverse engineer the keypad. The flimsy keypad replacement was $244.00 for a new one, however they no longer make the keypad. For less than $20 and a little solder I have a fully functioning replacement.

Good Afternoon Cheryl, I am happy to assist you. Could the error code possibly be SY CE? If so, error code SY CE, commonly refers to a communication error at power up. Let's try resetting the refrigerator by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. It is important to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn on the refrigerator.
