Providing that the machine was not stored in a wet location or out in the elements you should have no problem. If it were me I would first thoroughly clean the machine, then plug the machine in without the gas line hooked up,start the machine. Let the machine run for a few minutes and listen for the igniter to cycle and for any unusual noises. If everything sounds ok proceed with gas hookup.

It's been standing for around 2 years unused. Fitted new battery, indicators horn, brake lights all work. No ignition ligh, turns over, but won't start. Was working fully before 2 years unused

After sitting so long did you drain out the old gas as well you could have a dirty and plugged carburetor. Just to try an experiment take the spark plugs out and squirt a little gas into the plug hole and put the plugs back in and hook up the wires and see if it tries to start. If it does then you know the carburetor or dirty gas lines needs cleaning. if you do this several times there is a chance it may keep on running..If there is a gas filter it may need changing.

My gas dryer is 3 years old and it starts to heat up when it is turned on and then stops heating while running.

This is usually due to the two gas valve solenoid coils sitting on top of the gas valves, one with 3 prongs and the other has 2. The coils work fine when cool but one or both are weak and fail when get heated. Both coils must work to open the two gas valves in order for the dryer to fire up. The coils are not repairable and the only viable solution is replacing both of them. Replace the solenoid coils and it should solve the problem.

Clothes will not dry - not hot enough - installed professionally about 3 months ago - is it safe to move it to see how the venting was done behind the unit? I'm afraid of disconnecting something and not...

look behind dryer, making sure you can easy it out without pulling on the gas line or anything. You can or should be able to disconnect the vent without pulling the machine out at all or if you do just a little. Here is a website that covers venting, Good Luck Tim:

Suzuki died on the Interstate at 65!

yes! purchase a can of Seafoam from Autozone $10 pour 1/3 can into two gallons of gas and get on an open highway... be safe though. Also drain all old gas out of the tank use an 89 octane, also replace 'fuel filter' it might be clogged and pre fill the filter with some Seafoam, and then if it wont start just try a push start and once you get it started keep it going, it might run rough the first couple of miles.if theres anything clogged up in the jets it'll probably clear it out.

Chainsaw will not start.

Not sure if it's safe but when I was cutting timber and we weren't sure if the chainsaw was flooded, we lit a match and put it on the ground underneath the exhaust pipe then tried to pull start it. If you got a little puff of flames then it was flooded. If not, you had no gas. And don't leave your gas can sitting around close while you're attempting these brave feat. Don't let your kids watch and don't do it unless you're alone or with someone you don't like much. Get them to hold the match.

5 hp Briggs and stratton wont run on a MTD tiller.

I had the same problem a few years back. Check the rubber elbow coming from the gas tank to the carb, it's probably cracked and sucking air instead of fuel from the tank.
