Question about Electrolux Refrigerators

1 Answer

Hi. I have an Electrolux EI27BS16JS french-door fridge. The ice bin can overfill, dropping cubes behind the lower basket, preventing full closure. Recently, while I was away on vacation, it seems one of the kids or the sitter had this problem, and forced the freezer closed. But it would not fully seal; the left side was open by several millimeters. After removing the food, and the baskets, I was fiddling and wrestling, and a part popped loose. At the back of each drawer slider is a cogged wheel, riding in a cogged rack. These wheels are connected with a steel axle; this axle is what came out. The wheels, axle and the cogged racks they ride on serve to prevent entire drawer from rotating out of square. I believe someone tried to force the drawer closed with the obstruction and one wheel popped one cog. So the drawer wouldn't seal on that side, by the several millimeters I described. Without the axle the drawer seals just fine, but it's pretty wobbly (it easily yaws out of square). With the baskets in place the entire thing is reasonably stable and square. But I have no idea how to re-install the axle correctly. Force it back in? Disassemble the door and re-intall? Is there a repair procedure suitable for a somewhat handy person?

Te only way to re insert it(the bar in the cogs) is to slightly force the drawer glides apart and reinsert it.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite bottom freezer drawer won't shut

Has something fallen behind the drawer, and is preventing it from sliding back all the way? Remove the drawer by pulling it all the way out and lift it up and out. Look for anything that has fallen back there.

SOURCE: freezer door wont seal and stay closed

Your pushing air from the fridge part over to the freezer door when you clos it,the only thing i can suggest is make sure that the seal (which is magnetic) is clean and not falling apart, inspect it all around the door, and when closing the door i would close it gently.

Hope this helped.Let me know by rating me or

SOURCE: feeler arm on ice maker prevents freezer drawer from opening

Hi, There is no adjustment on the level arm other then bending it. Is it posible that something snagged it as the drawer was being pulled out and bent it? The arm should collapse all the way down tothe side of the icemaker and level with the bottom of the icemaker.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can help further.

Why ice maker doesn't work

The ice maker is a pretty simple device... needing only water and (its own) power to operate (there is a hidden fuse in some circuits). The refrigerator should be level (a mix between good door closure and generally equal cubes).

Minor adjustments can be made for cube "done-ness" and tray fill level by following owners manual instructions.

If you don't have any cubes... your ice-maker is not at fault. You need to focus on your water valves.

The biggest reason ice-makers stop operating is the bin-fill wire gets inadvertently pushed up... which halts operation.

It is in fact a switch... easily remedied.

If you can look into the space and you see the wire is in the "up" position... GENTLY flip it down with your finger. It should drop freely down to measure the level of the ice (and stop when the bin is full). Your device is fine and should resume operation.

Otherwise you need to start looking for a stray ice cube... they can fall back ... freeze to the new load... and prevent operation,

If you cannot remove the ice blockage...The remedy here is a full defrost.

Empty (and remove power from) the freezer.
Open the door (a room fan would be great (not a heater))... but keep your electrical devices from getting wet or the consequences could be fatal... if not shocking.

Good luck.

((If the stuck ice cubes begin to be a chronic issue SENSIBLE fixers will try to purchase a new ice tray and retro-fit it onto their existing ICE-MAKER head... Here is where I STRONGLY SUGGEST you buy the entire HEAD UNIT... I'm just saying... another decade of trouble free CUBES could be worth a few dollars more... and the NEW TRAY approach never worked for me!))

Cold air is blowing out from behind the fridge on the ice maker side of my french door styl fridge. Is this normal

Good Afternoon Sharon Poirier, thank you for your post!
I understand that cold air is blowing from behind your Electrolux refrigerator on the side your icemaker is on. From what you are describing it sounds like a loose seal or missing plug. I would recommend having a professional technician out to your home to thoroughly look over your refrigerator. This will help to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Ice maker not dropping ice

Need more info. Are there ice cubes in the storage section just behind the freezer door? You may have turned the ice-maker OFF. When your depress the ice flipper, does the motor run behind the door? The motor may be burned out or the ice cubes in the storage section are so melted together in a giant glob that the agitator cannot turn.Or, maybe someone turned OFF the water supply.

Ice maker not working

my icemaker has a wire overfill sensor which shuts off the icemaker if there is too much ice in the basket. If this wire gets pushed up it will stop making ice until level lowers OR manually lowered.

AMANA ARB2257C ice maker makes noise/doesn't eject cubes into bin

Hi: First off make sure the fridge is level. Is It too high in front? Making the rear of the icemaker overflow and jam? Also make sure the freezer section is a zero degrees, not just frozen. Ice cream should be rock hard. I hope this helps you avoid calling service. Thank You, Jeff

Bad water & ice cube taste

Hello redwood City
Welcome

You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
copper tubing."

Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

Let me know what works,
Thank You ,
HUUUM!!
