I have a toshiba equium A200-196laptop. The problem is that its keyboard does not work once I get into windows or when I want to type my password on start up. But it does work when I press F2 to enter into bios. All the keys seem to be working when I'm in bios. What could be the problem

Try an external USB keyboard, when windows has loaded. It could be a driver issue.

Enable the microphone on a toshiba equium

you need to get a mic / headset
ive even found them in the £1 shop
and they work aok

on the front of the equium is wo sockets and a small volume rotory control
place the green plug into he headphone socket
and the other plug into the mic input socket

the equium doesnt have a built in mic

so you need to do this
once this is done you can open the volume control {task bar} or the realtek applet in the control panel
or .. just the windows sound applet
fine the mic input section and check its not muted
you can use skype echo test to make the levels good and test it out
windows all also allow you too do this

my advice with the equium and XP is too go to the realtek site and download the AC97 driver from there
it works better

ive retired my equium now but it still works fine and i enjoyed writing over 2GB of code and projects on it ..

good old equium

How do I fing toshiba A60 equium password

Hi,
pull the battery out and leave it out for a few minutes and then put it back in - if you can reach the bios then reset optimum settings - if there is a windows password then reformatting will get rid of that one.

There has been a lot of talk around this computer lately about the same problem you are having. It has something to do with the plug that plugs into the mother board it self.

Trying to help my mom turn on the sound of her Toshiba Equium

The first thing to try is clicking once on the speaker icon in windows. if that is not muted double click on it and make sure the volume is turned on for all the file types and devices. If not the issue there is no "normal" configuration but there is a function key that mutes your sound or a volume wheel of some type on the side

Toshiba Equium M70 Trouble with keyboard only two keys dont work with the shift key

The first thing I would try is buy a can of compressed air and give your keyboard a good cleaning. There may be stuff under the keys that are letting them work. Was there any liquid spilled on the keyboard?
