SOURCE: my resently purchased Dirt Devil pool cleaner

Sometimes u have to use the return water that enters your pool to fill up the hose with water u use to get all the air out of it, its kinda like priming it. or u can submerge the hose all the way. And if that still doesn't work then sometimes giggling the hose might get it to start suction

SOURCE: My above ground pool vacuum

With these pool cleaners, the common cause of this problem is issues with the flapper. With the pump off, remove the cleaner from the pool and check the flapper for any signs of damage or debris that could be causing problems with movement. It should move freely and their should be no obvious stones, twigs or other debris clogging this area. If you see debris, simply remove it. If you see debris that can't easily be reached with your fingers, you will need to remove the plate where the debris goes when vacuuming. Use a small flat headed screwdriver to push on one of the two tabs located on the side of the base plate. Release the plate, remove the flapper, and remove the debris. Reattach your plate and try your cleaner again.

SOURCE: Our dirt devil pool cleaner

Make sure that your unifram is installed with the opening in a vertical position. If it is horizontal, you pool cleaners line will not have proper suction. You will also want to check for obstructions in the flapper that would cause the cleaner to not move properly. Finally, make sure that this is the proper cleaner for your pool size. If you have an in ground or very large above ground pool, it is possible that the pump you are operating with is too strong for the cleaner to move properly.

Hoses were probably coiled up when the cleaner was removed from the pool. the memory on the hoses will be a problem. Also the return may need to be adjusted to move the cleaner around the pool

Above ground pool how to get and keep crystal clean water

If you clean your filter frequently, and keep your chlorine level to at least 5.0ppm it will help but with "out of the box" above ground pools the filter is really undersized. Check to see if a larger filter or pump can be installed on your pool. Also because it is an above ground pool if the temp gets above 84 degrees the chlorine dissipates rapidly, you can switch to Bromine which dissipates at around 104 degrees and provides the same sanitation levels as chlorine.

Vac gets stuck in deep end and can't get to shallow end

What type of pool do you have? These specific pool cleaners are made for flat bottomed above ground pools. They are not made to move from deep end to shallow end. If you are using this on an in ground pool that has both shallow and deep or a dished above ground pool, you are not going to get accurate cleaning.

Sand in my pool

the picture you have here is for a sand filter not de. If this is the correct filter pictured, the seal on the valve is probably defective, usually due to moving the lever for backwashing while the pump is running. So it is sand that's passing through.
Find the model number of the valve, go to your pool supply store such as pinch a penny and buy a new rubber seal. If you want you can remove the 6 or 8 screws on top of the valve and take the seal out and take it with you to match with the new one. (just make sure you turn off all power to the pump so it doesn't start off the timer while you're working and be careful not to drop your screws inside the tank) Good Luck

Machine has power but internal motor dosen't work

If you are sure that the automatic pool cleaner is getting power, check to make sure that the impeller is not jammed/clogged. If you find that it is not, check the wheels to make sure that they are not stuck. If you still can't get the cleaner to move, it could possible be that the motor has died. If so, it will probably be cheaper to replace the pool cleaner than to buy a new motor.

Lopsided 18x4 intex round easy set pool

I started out with easy set pools a few years ago and finally gave up and went to their steel supported ones.

I have put up over 20 above ground Intex pools and have learned a few things in the process:

A: The larger the pool with the air ring at the top the more difficult it is to fill to its maximum potential.

B: Eventually the pool is going to collapse with people in it, especially if someone leans over the edge with their arms on it which is a perfectly natural thing to do.

C: It is virtually impossible to get an area beneath the pool level without scraping the ground and measuring it with, in your case, at least a 16' long 2"x4" on its edge with a level on it.

D: Trying to build up the ground on one side with sand will eventually result in collapse of the pool.

E: There is a type of stiff styrofoam ring that you can buy in sections to go around the bottom of the pools, but that will also result in collapse unless it is used for what it was developed, and that is a rigid wall pool.

F: Out of the three types of pools that Intex sell, the easy up with the air ring (the worst), the steel supported all the way around (next worse). and the rigid side, only the rigid side is forgiving to a tiny degree where unlevel ground is concerned.

For your size of pool everything must be exact and completely level or at one point it will collapse. There is little more discouraging than seeing all those gallons of water run out onto the grass. Once the water goes over the edge, no amount of people can prevent the collapse.

Finally I have learned that, with above ground pools, you get exactly what you pay for. My 5th above ground Intex pool was the best, but even with the ring around the edge at the bottom and the rigid side, I was still wasting my money unless the ground was aboslutely level. You just have to cut away the dirt until the level shows no angle.

I wish you all the luck. If you feel a desire, I have 5 Intex pools in my barn I will give to you if you pay the freight. Each was a dissapointment and a waste of time, energy, and above all, money.

I finally spent about $750 on one, had a professional crew level the ground, and it stays up through the winters even.
