I would recommend reseating the RAM first as the link says, there is also a link on that page describing how to do that.

Also try googling HP error codes and see if you can find anything relating to those beeps you're hearing

SOURCE: Laptop does a long beep, followed by two short beeps.

One long followed by two short beep IS a video error. However, your model laptop does not have a separate video card. The only fix is to replace the mother board. Here is the service manual that will show you how to take apart the laptop and even give you the part number you would need to replace the motherboard.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

SOURCE: No display .. getting three short beeps, pause,

It's the sound produced by motherboard stating that motherboard is not able to detect the RAM,open the laptop and remove the RAM and clean with a white paper slowly and insert it properly.check it solve your problem otherwise if you have another RAM slot available then try that too. if none work replace with a NEW RAM this will solve your problem

let me know if it's helpful to you

Power_LED Buzzer on Mainboard continues to beep every 3 seconds fans are operating but system doesn't boot or show nothing on monitor(which is ok)

well you didn't say what the beep code was, is it just one beep every three seconds? Or is there long beeps, short beeps, and long and short time between them before they repeat?
If it is one, beep, every three seconds and the beep is one second long, there is a problem with a connection somewhere. Typically it happens in older computers that are in dusty environments. You can try to (only if your comfortable with how to do it) unplug the memory modules from the motherboard and keep track which socket which is plugged into, and mix them up so they are in different slots from their original positions, then try to reboot.
If that does not work and there is no display at all (even POST information) it could be a bad card (modem, sound, video, etc.) remove all but the video cards and try a boot again, if you can boot then plug only one card in each time you try to boot and when you find the offender replace it with a new one (that is if you use that card, if it is a modem and you do not use dial up internet you do not need the modem card plugged in.
But one, one second long beep every three seconds typically means there is a connector problem somewhere, if the computer is older carefully clean out the dust and unplug and re-seat all of the connectors and hopefully that will solve your problem
Good luck!

Any help for beeping acer laptop when opening..thanks

g'day!

i would like to know how many and the kinds of beeps? there are what they call beep codes which indicates what kind of problem the your laptop is experiencing: here are the common ones:

0 beep = no power, loose card, short
1 short beep = normal,POST (Power On Self Test), your computer is ok
2 short beeps = POST error, review screen for error code.
continuous beeps = no power, loose card, short
repeating short beeps = no power, loose card, short
1 long, 1 short beeps = motherboard issue
1 long, 2 short beeps = video issue
1 long, 3 short beeps = video display circuitry
three long beeps = keyboard/keyboard card error
one beep, blank, incorrect display = video display circuitry

aside from the 1 short beeps, you need to take your laptop to a technician to have it looked at.

cheers mate!

THE RED LIGHT IS ON AND BEEPS EVERY MINUTE

What motherboard do you have? If you don't know, provice make and model of your system and maybe we can find out that way. Is it one long beep? Are there any other beeps and/or a sequence. A good place to start and alot of times, depending on your bios, 1 to 3 beeps means a problem with the RAM(memory). If you have more than 1 stick, you can pull them out, restart and if the beep is the same, you've probably found your culprit. You can then insert one at a time in one of your slots, then restart. If this works, you've found a good stick. If not, try another slot and restart, etc. Try all sticks in all slots.

It does not start, gives one long beep (about 2-3 seconds) silence and beep again

Switching DDR cards solved the problem. I was getting long beeps every 2 seconds. No short beeps. Just one long beep every 2 seconds. Thanks Josh Whitehead.
