Just replay it over or you probably have the wrong type of mp3 player to fit your song

My ipod touch keeps skipping to new songs while driving. Not sure if it is the shuffle selection. I thought I turned the shuffle off but it continues to skip

Dear sudoorn,
- Check once again if the shake/shuffle is off. - When using headphones be sure no to press any buttons on the headphones because some headphones skip songs (or rewind, pause etc.) by using such buttons. If this is not the cas then maybe your headphones are broken and they give a false signal to your iPod to skip a song. Hope this helped. Kind regards, FriskyR

I have no sound on ipod during music playback and have done the 5 basic troubleshooting steps to no avail

Does the song play, or does it just keep skipping to the next song (does it show the song has length or not). If so it might be a dirty headphone jack.

Dont know how to skip song using headphone switch

okay if you notice, the headphone switch should have a + for increasing volume and a "-" for decreasing volume, in the middle is this groove part, which can be clicked aswell. Click the middle to play/pause. And double click it twice really fast to skip to the next song! Enjoy

Mp3 plays few seconds of song.

Do you mean it plays a few seconds then skips onto the next song? If that is the case then most likely you have "Intro" play set which only plays a few seconds as a introduction then skips to the next time.

To fix this, during music playback, press the [menu] button, then there should be an option there to change it from "Intro" to "NORMAL" instead.

Hope that helps.

Here's your answer: Songs will skip ...

  • If "Copy protected" option is selected when ripping CD in WMP10 or WMP11.
    • Deselect "Copy protected" options in WMP10 or WMP11 before ripping CD.
How to deselect "Copy protected" options
  1. Run WMP software.
  2. Right click Ripping on the top menu, then select Tools / Options.
  3. Click Rip Music.
  4. Make sure to deselect "Copy protect music".

Song skipping

Do the songs skip when they are played on your computer? If they aren't, it could be an issue with the iPod.

Skipping songs

We could try formatting the player and after the format has been complete try updating the firmware of the player. Change the settings fo the player to MSC then connect to your computer, open my computer and right-click the player and choose format remove the tick mark on the quick format and after the format has been completed. Unplug the device and go to the sandisk website and download the firmware update and install it and when it ask you to connect the device hook the plyer and perform the update for the player. Note: It may be the songs on the player are not that properly transferred that why it is skipping and also the player might also have had bad sectors that is why we have formatted the player. Hope this helps.
