the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)

SOURCE: Sending DHCP request across diffrent vlans

Hmm... on your DHCP server, try setting the "default router" IP for each pool to be the VLAN ID on the switch.

scope 172.16.0.0 /24
router 172.16.0.1

scope 10.20.8.0 /22
router 10.20.8.1

I think the DHCP replies aren't going back where they should. I've never done this without a router doing all the DHCP, but it does work and i've done it many times. Your config looks spot on for the switch.

SOURCE: ip address

  1. Type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the URL web page address bar.
  2. Click on setup>Basic Settings
  3. Check the box labled DHCP.
  4. Make sure that the devices on the network have Obtain IP Address automatically radio button is checked on the network connections.
Now, all the devices are connected to network. Understand the meaning of 'Server'. Any PC can be a server, for that mater most devices can be a 'Server'. The term simply means providing resources like files, folders and printers. However how secure your resources are is determined by the operating system on the PC or device providing resources (printers, files/folders, cameras) . I recommend Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard as a Network Operating System for your PC. This is a very powerful and sophisticated OS and will most likely only be used to its fullest ability by a MCSA or MCP. This is not an OS that can or should even be touched by an average or expert PC user. This OS is intended to be managed by a professional trained and certified to use the OS. Please contact if you have any more questions in this area. This is my area of expertise.

SOURCE: cannot get ip through D-Link DGS-1008D Green switch

Your question is a little odd, as you should not be dealing with ip addresses when referring to a switch. Is the devices only function as a switch? Is it powered on? Are the ports enabled? Please clarify what you are trying to do when you "don't get ip addresses through"

SOURCE: what is the default IP

Hi,

This issue is more on a hardware. 169.254.XXX.XXX refers to an INVALID IP ADDRESS. Here's what you can try:
>release the ip address by running command prompt:
>>>>Click START>type CMD on the search bar>type IPCONFIG /RELEASE and hit ENTER
>>>>ip address will be set to 0.0.0.0
>renew the ip address: by typing IPCONFIG /RENEW and hit ENTER
>>>>it will generate new sets of ip addresses

However, if it still gives you 169.254.XXX.XXX you need to flush the DNS by typing IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS and hit ENTER and it will immediately tell you that the DNS had been successfully flushed.
>Check your ip address by typing IPCONFIG and hit ENTER

That's the best I could do for the issue that you have.Thank you for choosing FixYa! Your rating will help me succeed and continuously help a lot people.

New ares galaxy wont connect on windows 7

Not sure if it will help everyone, or anyone for that matter, but try going into control panel in area, transer, and changing the port number to 48871 instead of the defualt, also have seen unrestricting firewalls work as well as changing to port 80 but that didnt work for me. Give it a shot if nothing else it just won't connect, but after I switched it it took about 5 seconds to link up. Hope this helps someone = )

Having trouble updating my 890 and extender. Got the extender to update once by putting it in safe mode, but then the 890 hung at 3%. So cancelled and now the extender won't update and gets hung at 3%. ...

This is most likely a problem with a firewall on your computer blocking the communications. There are a couple of things you will have to ensure for the connectivity to be successful.

1. You are not connected to the internet via a router

2. You are not on a wireless network

3. Any firewalls on your computer are disabled

4. Your USB cable and port are good, and the remote is not connected to a USB hub but right into the compter.

Now, you can try the following:

1. Uninstall the software

2. Download it again at http://logitech.com/myharmony

3. Install

4. In your computer's add/remove programs, uninstall the Logitech Desktop Messenger

5. Take out the battery, press and hold the "OFF" button, and re-insert it. The remote will display "Safe Mode"

6. Connect your remote and log in to your account

7. Click "Downloads" at the top and select "Firmware". The firmware on the remote will update.

8. Click "Replace Remote" to conduct a connectivity check.

9. Update the remote.

That should get the remote working. :)

ASA5510 Active/Standby Not Working

This is a old post, have you received and answer yet?

If not, make sure the internal interfaces are connected to one another and both have links. The ASA needs to have a "heartbeat" signal that passes between the 2 devices and this seems to be what's failing.

Xbox set up

If you have an Xbox 360 connected to a home network that also has a Windows Media Center, you can add your Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender device so that you can enjoy the digital media on your Windows Media Center computer by using Xbox 360. For more information, see Xbox 360 online.
1. Turn on your Windows Media Center computer and log on to Windows. Verify that your computer is connected to your home network.
2. Turn on your Xbox 360 and verify that it is connected to your home network.
3. In Windows Media Center, on the start screen, scroll to Tasks, and then click add extender.
4. On the Welcome to Windows Media Center Extender Setup screen in Windows Media Center, click Next.
5. Press the Green Start button blank.gif on your Xbox 360 remote control or use your Xbox 360 controller to select the media blade.
6. On your Xbox 360, select Media Center.
7. On your Xbox 360, follow the instructions on the screen to obtain an 8-digit Windows Media Center Setup Key. Write down this 8-digit setup key. This is the key that you will use to affiliate your Xbox 360 with your computer that has Windows Media Center.
You do not need to download any additional software because the Extender functionality is built into Windows Media Center.
8. On the Enter the Setup Key screen in Windows Media Center, use the Windows Media Center remote control or keyboard to enter the 8-digit setup key that displays on Xbox 360, and then click Next.
9. Follow the steps in Extender Setup.
Several changes are automatically made to your Windows Media Center computer during the Extender Setup, including changes to the Windows Firewall settings. For more information about Windows Firewall, see Windows Firewall: recommended links. During this time, the Windows Media Center Extender service (which is named mcx2svc) starts on your computer, along with other dependent services.
If you have a firewall running on your computer that is not the Windows Firewall, make sure that the firewall software is set up to allow Xbox 360 to connect to your Windows Media Center computer as a Windows Media Center Extender. Some firewalls are already set up to allow Xbox 360 to connect to a Windows Media Center computer as a Media Center Extender. However, other firewalls will require you to make changes to how the firewall software is set up. For more information about which firewalls are already set up to allow a Media Center Extender connection, as well as information about how to set up other firewalls to work with a Windows Media Center Extender such as Xbox 360, go to the Firewalls and Media Center Extender article on the Microsoft website.
10. After Extender Setup has finished, in Windows Media Center, click Finish.
On the TV that is connected to Xbox 360, the Windows Media Center user interface appears. You can then enjoy live TV, recorded TV, pictures, music, videos, and other digital media on your Xbox 360 as you would in Windows Media Center. A new user account named mcx1 (by default) is automatically created to use the Extender.

Thanks and hope that helps!
