You have a wire or wires getting wet; (corroded or bare) condensation is the same thing when in garage; when outside the Sun "dries" the moisture and you can start.

If it's been in storage for ten years, then there are two things to suspect. It either has killed the batteries because of no charge, so they over-discharged to nothing and probably have leaky batteries, or, depending on where you have stored the radios, they can simply corrode by moisture. I keep my two way radios in my kitchen display cabinet where I can see them to remind me to charge them every three months. And they're still working like new. Where did you store your radios, in the garage? Garages have the highest moisture because when you bring your car in after it has been in the rain, all that water on the car evaporates, and it's that evaporation that drifts inside a closed garage overnight which starts to rust all exposed metals and even connectors and printed circuit boards of... your radios. Cars should be left out in the rain at night and during the day the cars may be garaged but the door should be open to dissipate or dry the water on the car to air any moisture that's likely to be trapped in the garage. Observe and learn what a wet car can do to your valuable tools. Just leave the garage door open, even half will do, as long as air flows in to dry the car. But at night, leave the car outside.

My gear driven garage door opener is making a loud noise

I did garage doors for 20 years and I am going to say it's not the plastic
pinion gear but the 7" three piece metal screw in the center of the rail that goes from the head unit to the wall just above the top of the door that needs lubricated. It spins inside metal to metal and will make a heck of a racket if it is dry. Buy a spray can of lithium grease and disengage the garage door and start the opener and spray the complete screw front wall to the head unit and your done.
Reconnect your garage door and give that a try, I bet that solves your
problems.
Do this every couple of years. :0)

I have a 3 ft stainless double wall chimney that is going thru a ceiling/roof in my garage. there were no instructions on installation. how is this secured? Pls thx Jer

You can use metal strapping with short self-tapping sheet metal screws also where it penetrates roof a metal collar on inside should be used and a roof collar approved for B-wall vent pipe to keep water from leaking inside on outside on the roof. You can penetrate outside of B-wall vent pipe with short screws to secure the pipe just don't penetrate both pipes.this outside pipe is just a insulator to keep heat from transferring through pipe.

Garage door opens randomly then closes

This is most commonly caused by a bad wall control, the wires going to it or a remote with a shorted switch. You must use a process of elimination. Heavy dew or rain will not cause this.

Genie Directlift garage door opener, wall control problem.

Sounds like a skinned wire on your front or rear limit switches is touching metal. Go over your low voltage wiring and test again.

Liftmaster Garage Door Opener Problems...

The problem lies in the RPM sensor, most likely due to the interrupter cup assembly. The interrupter cup assembly is the black cap that runs through the RPM sensor. You may have forgotten to re-attach this piece or it is probably moving too far out when the garage sets in motion. To fix this, remove the cup assembly, unscrew the two screws on the top metal piece with a 1/8 allen wrench, push the metal piece as far in as possible and put the screws back on. This will give more room for the cup assembly to spin and be read by the RPM sensor. Hope this helps!
