Check down by the brush roll to see if the inlet is clogged. This type of problem usually means there is a clog. But you do have a year's warr. on this, if you can't figure it out, then take it a Sears repair shop.

SOURCE: Need to buy a new vacuum cleaner
If it is value-for money you are looking for, Look in the Ads papers for anyone selling a Kirby G3 or G5. Yes these are heavy - but they are power assisted! They really do "beat" the carpet, and have enough vacuum to lift a fitted carpet UP.
I bought one 8 years ago, and have only relpaced 2 belts in that time.
It is what the hotels use every day.
The second option for longevity is a Henry. These again are used industrially, but are no good for carpet beating - only removing surface dust by vacuum only.
The third option would be a Dyson or similar design of bagless, but it MUST be a good brand name, and priced middle to top.
The price does reflect the build quality and materials used.
Make sure you change the pad filters when specified or the motor will burn out. This is a known fault.
If this solves your problem, Please spare a moment to rate as Fixya! Thanks.

In between the filters there's an access panel that can be removed - there may be a blockage there. You should also check your hose for a blockage.
Otherwise you may need to take it to your local Electrolux Service Center. There may be a problem with the pressure board. The machines have a 2 year warranty, not sure what it'd be in your neck of the woods.

It could be the a number of issues.
The actual power switch could be at fault and needs replaced which has to be done by an official repairer.
OR if the vacuum cut out initially wait for a day and then try it again.
Also if the filters have been cleaned check that there is no dirt stopping the motor from coming on i.e. check the beater bar (remove the hood if neccessary) and check the drive belt is intact, also check all tubes to see there is no clogging.
If you have cleaned the filters you need to make sure they are dry rather than damp to wet as water seeping into a motor is very dangerous.

Check with a vac repair shop to see if they might have a used top. If not they should be able to order you one. You could call the customer service number located on the label of the vac located on the back or the bottom of your vac for assistance.
