Question about Frigidaire Washing Machines
Good Afternoon Annette, I am happy to assist you! However, I'm not certain I understand your question or concern? What type of issue(s) is the washer is experiencing? May I please have the model number? You can typically locate the serial tag on the upper front as you open the door. With this information I can better address the issue at hand. Thank you and I look forward to your response.

Sounds like it is worn out. Get a parts diagram and take it apart and see what parts are missing or worn out. The belt is probably coming apart and that is the black stuff. There are several plastic wear plates and a bearing/bushing for the drum, plus the belt idler and all these can wear out. The motor could also have a bad bushing in it but more than likely that will require a new motor as they don't usually sell just the bushing or end caps.

When ours does that it is because of the hard water build up. We have to un-hook the hot water clean out the minerals and it stops doing it.

There should be a bracket on the front and back of the pedestal with screws going into the bottom of the washer or dryer. Many times it is inset so you do not normally see it. Remove the screws in the bracket and it should come right off.
If you do not have brackets it might be screwed in from within the pedestal body in which case you would have to take out the drawer to get to the screws.

Tips for a great answer:
Good afternoon friend, that's a great question!
I understand that you are trying to replace the selector knob on your Frigidaire washer, GLTF2940E. Normally this is not a DIY job and we would recommend having a technician come out to the home in order to properly disassemble your front panel and replace the selector knob as needed. Hope this is helpful. -Matt
