Authorize map failure - Magellan GPS

Code 13 indicates a failure of the vacuum or pneumatic failure which prevents the MAP output from changing. This referring to the MAP sensor

this is a Carb car right?
if car is EFI
13 means bad baro sensor, in non science terms
that means a bad MAP sensor.
the MAP is used to calculate all air flowing in to the engine
and this allows the ECU to inject a perfect fuel mix.
if 13 happens the eCu goes to limphome and sucks fuel like crazy.
13, means bad wires to MAP or bad MAP or bad vacuum line to MAP.
a tech, checks all 3, and then tests the MAP and the problem is solved. the FSM is free, ask.

Hello,

If you are having troubles accessing the pre loaded mapping then you may need a firmware update, if these are maps that you have installed make sure they are compatible authorized maps.
If you try this and all fails contact Garmin customer support.

Hopefully the download is an .imi or .rmp file and the serial number is matched to your GPS. If so, just move the map to your SD card under the folder /MAP_DATA. Start your GPS and activate it.

The map has to be authorized by Magellan so make sure it is to your GPS serial number.

seems to me it could be a power failure your best bet is to take it to an authorized sanyo distributer or find a television repair shop in your area or you could ship the item to mainstreet pc in plymouth nc you can find their info on google maps the owner joe is a good friend of mine he might be able to help you out

Unfortunately the authorization code comes from Magellan so there is no way for us as end users to bypass it. I would call back to Magellan and ask to speak to a supervisor or manager. Someone there has to be able to provide the authorization codes, tell them you have a very popular blog and plan to let everyone know just how horrible Magellan's customer service is unless they help you. It is ridiculous that they would be holding you hostage essentially like this. I wish I could provide you with the authorization codes but unfortunately it is tied to the unique identifier from your magellan unit, and the serial number of the map software, both things that Magellan can easily check, and then provide you with the code.

I would keep calling until someone gives it to you, that is simply not acceptable.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but noone on here will be able to give you those codes, it is a manufacturer dependent thing.

Good luck, sometimes it just takes a little persistence, and like I said, make sure you are talking with at least a level one supervisor.

Garmin mapping software comes with a security number. You need to contact Garmin and they will give you this number, if you purchased your maps through them or an authorized dealer.
