Most keyboards and mice use 27MHz frequency.

If he was using both keyboards and mice sets as wireless then they should be working correctly if they are on the same frequency. Some newer units use 2.4GHz but I have never seen any issues with a router.

Of course he did not specify if he is using wireless on any of this.

This sounds like that you keyboard and mouse are on the same frequency. Try this. After you plug in your router remove the batteries from the two items and then reinstall the batteries. Sync the two together with the system. and see if that does the trick.
