Your car should have a dip stick that tells you where the oil level is. Use that to determine how much oil you need to add. Add 1 qt at a time until the oil appears on the dip stick, then add the oil slowly, checking the level until it is in the hash marks on the dip stick. If there is no dipstick, drain the oil and measure the oil using a gallon or quart containers and add the recommended amount. Remember there is already about 1 qt of oil in the filter.
Your 1983 Toyota Celica takes 4 quarts with new filter,Since your just adding,it depends what is showing on the dip stick, you say it's real low, which it probaly will take a least a quart, then add that and wait a few minutes to get to oil pan, then check dip stick twice and if still low, open another quart and add a fourth and check, add more if needed, then after you have drove, park, let sit, then check. If you add to much, there's a drain plug at oil pan underneath,You can go to Autozone and buy oil and ask if they will add, they will do it for free.
If your just going to recharge it and nothing was replace, no need to add oil, freon will have some oil, if you replaced the a/c compr. before installing the hoses to compr. add oil into compr.
The oil tank on an FXRP is under the seat. Always add oil to the tank when the engine is at operating temp. You can check the oil when it cold and as long as you see oil on the dipstick, it's fine. Start the bike up and warm the engine before add oil though. Check the oil with the bike on the side stand. There are two marks on the dipstick. The upper mark is "FULL HOT" and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Do not overfill.
after all the old oil has drained and the old filter has been removed. add 3.5 quarts of genuine H-D 20w50 to the oil tank. also add a few ounces of H-D 20w50 to the new oil filter and lightly coat the rubber gasket on the oil filter. Start the bike and let it warm up fully, then check your oil level with the bike on the kickstand. you may need to add another 1/4 of a quart.
After you have added the shredder oil, you have to hold down the "Lubricate" button for about 5 seconds. This resets the counter and it will remind you to add oil when you have gone through about 250 more pages. Note: holding down the "Lubricate" button for 5 seconds will reset the counter and make the message disappear whether you add the oil or not, but it is highly recommended that you use the oil.
