Thanks for all the input. The installer put a in-line fuse in on the blowerer side of the unit. No where was it listed on the digram, hence cost 3 hours of the tecks time, but only charged me for the house call.

SOURCE: problem running heater

Its not good that you dont know where the air filter is. Odds are there may not even be one in place. In Most mobile homes they dont pay much mind to proper filtration. The heat strips are covered with dust. If the heat Strips are that bad then usually the whole unit is clogged. Is there a unit inside the mobile home?? Or is the unit outside quite large and have ducts running to it??

Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.

was there any refrigerant loss? "bumping" that results in movng usualy causes a leak.If the system is totally empty, It shouldn't start.. If it did major oh nos! will appear. Does it not start all? and was it running when it got thumped? May have to call a tech out on it. Sorry.

SOURCE: Blower keeps running even after thermostat is in

This could be an indication that there is an error code flashing on the control board and needs to be addressed. Most newer units like this indicate a problem by running the room air blower to alert the homeowner something is wrong. Really! Without shutting off the power to the unit, look for a small viewing port that looks into the cabinet. You should see a blinking light that will blink a number of times, pause then blink another number of times. Once you get this number, say 3-4, look at the wiring diagram pasted on one of the door panels for a diagnostic chart. It will give you a starting point where to look for the problem. If you have one. Or you could have a bad control board or shorted wire. Make sure the air filter is clean since you will be in front of the unit, you would not believe how many times I have to charge $100 to replace a filter the home owner could have done for less than $20.

How do I get my AC running again? Ruud UBHC AC unit isn't running. Started yesterday or today.

Sounds like there is no control voltage. Either the transformer to reduce the voltage from 110 volts to 24 volts is not producing the 24 volts needed for control voltage, or most furnaces have a small 3 or 5 amp fuse mounted on the main control circuit board that may be blown. Other "outside circumstances" may involve a break in the thermostat wire...more than likely the red wire if you are getting nothing to work. I have seen evidence of "critters" that have chewed through the low voltage thermostat wiring that would keep the thermostat from controlling anything. To check this, go to the furnace and jumper the red & green wire to get the fan running just to isolate if it is a thermostat wiring severred. Good Luck.

Check to see if the fuse is blown. If it apprears to be blown, replace it. It is inexpeisive and simple. If you locate the fuse, you will be abel to determin if it is blowin becuase you will be erruption or a burnt mark in the fuse wires.

Turn the thermostat off and check for 24vac between R and C on the thermostat. If there is no C then to G or W. If you don't have 24vac go the transformer and check for 24vac on the secondary. If it isn't there then check for 120vac on the transformer primary. If it isn't there check the circuit breaker/fuse. If it is there then ohm the transformer windings and replace if bad. Let me know what you find so I can offer more advice.

You need to check the contactor. It sounds like the contacts may be getting close to the end of their usefulness and they are welding themselves closed. Check that and let me know what you find.

Turn the thermostat as low as it will go and have someone stand out side, they should here the condensor fan and compressor come on at the same time. They are two distinctive sounds so you should
be able to tell if the compressor is running.

If nothing happens and you are skilled with electrical
you can turn power off and remove the electrical
cover to the outside unit. Restore power and carefully
push in the contactor, if the fan and compressor
starts you have a thermostat or low voltage problem.

If just the outdoor fan runs on any attempt, more than likely you need a new capacitor.

You have to realize there are three components to the electrical supply... 1. power to the outside condensing/compressor unit-you found the service disconnect at the unit. Make sure that you put the black thing back in the slot with ON reading up. OFF up means the prongs do not connect the unit with the current. In order to confirm that you have power at the outside unit use a voltage tester. If no voltage, check the breaker on the panel in you residence (probably labeled AC). 2. Power to the inside blower/furnace--again this is in the residential circuit panel. COnfirm voltage at the unit with a voltage tester. 3. Power to the thermostat system usually 24 volts run through a transformer that may be attached inside the blower unit or may be seperate and attached to an outlet. Again you need to confirm that this transformer is working with a voltage tester (you should have 24 vdc on the out side of the transformer). Assuming you have power to all three components, the system should work normally. If not, send pictures of the wiring to your termostat...
