Controls not working in GE Bottom w/french doors.

In April I moved my refridge to put in new flooring and since then the contol panel does light upnot even the check the water light. The panel has no number what so ever. When it was put back in place we unplugged in for about an hour and all was well for a while but now the lights are back off....what should I do? Freezer works, Ice maker works, fridge is cold.

The temperature controls for the freezer and refrigerator compartments of our two-year old GE bottom freezer, french door refrigerator were unlit when we returned at the end of October from a month-long trip.

Now, if/when I hear a muted sort of crackling/crunching noise coming from the refrigerator, the next time I open one of the the doors, the controls will be lit. This lighting occurs approximately once a day.

I am having the same problem. I moved the refer to paint the walls behind it and now, intermittantly, the display will not light up. The unit is just out of warranty...kinda frustrating. I have attempted to remove the upper panel to check the connections. I figure the l.e.d. unit uses input from the same switches as the lights. I dont see any loose connections or smoked circuits. Anybody have a solution?

I have this problem too.  We had a heat wave here and the fridge seemed to have a real struggle keeping things cold.  It was unable to freeze the freezer beyond 20 degrees.  At the end of the heat wave, the lights in the control panel stopped working at all.  If we plug it in and take it out again, the lights come on briefly, but go out again in a few minutes.  I am unsure if the controls are still working at all, as the freezer is still pretty mushy.

I'm having the same problem. Tempurature controls are not lit up. We unplug the fridge and plug back in and they work for a few minutes. The fridge and freezer are staying cold. It sounds like it is cycling way to much.

My PFS22SBSBSS is 3 years old and having this same problem. I have not unplugged the refrigerator but I did remove the display/control board to inspect it for any obvious damage. It appeared to be fine and when I reinstalled it the LED's began to light up again. Dim at first and later a full brightness. I checked it again later that day and the display was out and stayed out.

Our digital display for the temp works sometimes, not often, and the other day our temp went way down. Now the the temp seems ok (why I don't know) but the digital display doesn't work. This thing is 3 years old. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WTF THE PROBLEM IS?????

I have the exact same problem with mine.  I was away for 3 months, left it running. Came back and no display.  Unplugged it & restarted it and it worked for a little while and went out again.

Did you ever get an answer?             I'm wondering about corrosion on the door switch from lack of use, as the display is only supposed to be on when a door is open.  Yours may have been a loose connector from moving it???

Fridge not freezing nor cooling

Hi Carol basically Fridge/Freezzers work on the principle of compressed Gas and Pressure, and other things inbetween so first of all check the thermostat settings to see what setting they are on and if all looks well then check to see if the compressor which is usually at the back of the fridge, comes on when power is applied, this usually involves abit of hard work moving the fridge into a position to see the compressor, the compressor should start up straight away if it doesn't come on at all then you will have to consider calling in a refridge technician to repair the compressor or pressure switch. Let me know how you go.

After a brown out, the front panel shows 88 and 08 (flashing). Nothing happens when i press any of the buttons. The refrigerator seems to still be cooling.

Wow, Grumpit...your solution worked perfectly (Press the top left (Engery Saver) and top right (Alarm) buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds--it will beep and reset the panel.) What a racket both GE and local repair places have going...they both told me I needed to replace the entire contol panel!! GE needs to start telling people this along with unplugging the fridge when you call in and ask about the error code.

New french door GE fridge that won't stay cold

If " new " is less than 1 year , you will need to call GE factory service , for a warranty repair . If any one else works on it , this will void your complete warranty , and they will charge you for a service call + parts + labor .

Unit not running, no lights on pannel but lights work inside.

Could be a control board issue, a broken wire somewhere, maybe the plug came off of the board. Try to unplug the refrig and plug it back in....A lot of times that will reset the board

Purchased a GE Profile bottom freezer April 08. Has indoor water dispenser. Changed the water filter 60 days ago. Since then the amount of cold water dispensed has slowly decreased to a trickle. There...

Disconnect the water line where it comes out of the water inlet valve and see how the flow is when you try the dispenser. Disconntct the water line at the bottom of the freezer door where it goes into the door. If it flows good here it may be freezing in the door. Open the door till it thaws.
If it's good at the inlet valve and slow at the door, some models have a way to put a plug in and bypass the filter.
