Can anyone explain what is the difference (if any) between EEC, non EEC, registered DDR RAM. Is there anyway to check what type I have. I am afraid I might have bought something that is incompatible with...

The correct term is ECC which stands for Error Correcting Code.
Most users with laptops or pc's will use Non ECC.
The ECC memory is more likely to be used for companies with servers etc.
If you google the model of your laptop or pc motherboard memory you should be able to find out exactly what memory you need.
For a laptop it will be something like 204 pin Sodimm DDR3 pc3 10600.

How to upgrade

First do a search for your laptop for make, model and memory. Something along the lines: "Best Laptop memory 'make' 'model' " Go to hardware websites pick your memory. Laptop installation: Usually there is a back cover you unscrew and the current memory is there. Read the labels on the memory to find out type and size. Also there is probably a second slot for additional memory. What type of laptop? Do a search for user manual for your laptop. Same procedure for google search just remove the words "Best" and "memory", then add "user manual". This is pretty basic stuff.

Using my 2GB memory stick for pictures and something is taking up about 1.5 gb of space that i ant find and delete barely any picture space left. Help?

Copy your picture off and use the camera or your pc to reformat the card. That will restore full space to the card.
Fastest easiest way to do it.

I'm assuming you were able to see all of the space previously. If not then it could be the wrong format type or incompatable size or type of card.

Can i insert this type of memory card into the slot into the computer directly? it says on my laptop that sd, xd and M (symbol for pro duo? )can be inserted. But when i try to insert it, it doesn't appear...

it is advisable to buy a AIO (All in one) card reader, you can use this to many different type of memory card, the built in slot for memory card in your laptop sometimes only suite to a single type or model (ex. SD slot..MMC Slot etc.)

in your case your memory card is not fit to it, don't force it you might damaged your card

From the manual:

If ink has run out while receiving a fax, if the paper size setting is incorrect, or if the paper type is set to a type other than plain paper, the fax is automatically stored in memory and <Received in memory.> is displayed. When the ink tank is replaced or the paper size/type setting is corrected, the stored fax is printed automatically.

Also, if the machine is in the process of something else (printing from computer, making a copy, scanning to computer), when a fax comes in it will be saved to memory, but it should print within a few minutes of becoming idle again.

Nothing but a fan and a flashing light

Try going back to the previous memory configuration, see if the unit comes up normaly. if it does, there is something wrong with the new memory configuration (defective memory module, incompatable memory type, etc)
