SOURCE: Altec Lansing computer speakers , power requirements

You have to find out what the speakers are rated at then go form there. There is usually a placard or sticker on the back that says what watts and voltage they are rated at. Then you have to find out what plug goes in. Or you just buy an OEM plug

Can someone help with the DC Volt, amperage and polarity of Altec Lansing 120i speakers please. I lost mine. Thanks.

Polarity and V are usually indicated somewhere near the plug. If not open the one with the plug, look at the wires connected to it, usually black and red, if still not clear follow one of the wires to the first connection point, if its to an electrolytic cap, the caps polarity will tell you what the polarity is at that input, the plug will be the same. The amperage really doesn't matter unless its too low, it can be much higher then rated, since trahsformers are self regulating for amperage.

How can my laptop charger fit to computer speaker?

Please do not modify your laptop charger to power your speakers. The laptop charger probably has too high a voltage and amperage output. (USB chargers don't provide a large enough output.) The Altec Lansing ACS40 speakers need a 15V 900 mA power transformer; the coaxial power connector has the positive voltage on the center pin. The model number on the transformer is 4815090R3CT . This is available through Amazon.com and other vendors. One vendor is http://www.emtcompany.com/altec-lansing-4815090r3cac-power-supply-charger-adapter/1010666.html .

I hope this helps.

This is one of those "it's cheaper to replace the speakers" scenarios as these units can be had for $25 new, and for even less on E-Bay.

Need to know the voltage on the dc power adapter for ACS5 model

Hard to find info. It looks like they run on about 14 to 15 volts dc. It's not critical. Check local electronic surplus stores or thrift stores before spending a lot more elsewhere.

troubleshoot the transformer and try to replace the Opamp (UTC458) on the circuit board. the Opamp might be broken and shorting the circuit and fry your transformer. goodluck.
