The answer depends on what model Phonak hearing aid you are referring to. In any case, the opening where the sound comes out (usually the part that fits to the deepest point in the ear) needs to be free of any debris (i.e., wax, dead skin, body oils, etc.). If the aid did not come with a cleaning tool (usually a little brush and/or tool with a tiny wire loop on the end), try buying cleaning tools in the dental care section of a Walmart or the like. Look for tiny brushes and picks normally used for cleaning dentures and/or braces. If you'd like more detailed and model specific instructions, please post a picture of the hearing aid you have.
