How are they connected in ceiling? If the blue wire from fan is connected to the red wire then the light wire from the switch would be the same. Since you have two blacks coming from the wall you'll have to connect the other wires until it's correct.

White is your neutral so white goes to white. Blue on the fan is for the light kit you need to wire that to the wire from your switch so it works the lights. Black is the hot wire that is always hot not switched so tie that to the wire that is not on your switch. Green is ground so green to green. white to white / green to green/ black to black/ red to blue/

I forgot to write down the color connections. my options are L 1 2 3 my wire colors are, blacr, purple, yellow, blue. which goes where?

One line on the fan goes to the house common and should be white. this one is separate from the new switch. The other 3 lines on the fan are the 3 speeds. "L" is for the hot line coming into the fan and should be BLACK or RED. It should also be in the same box connector as the white above.
1,2 and 3 are the 3 fan speeds and tie to the 3 leads on the fan.
Try 1=purple 2= blue 3=yellow
You may need to move them after testing but darkest to lightest is usually the 1,2,3 order. Please let me know how much this has helped. Thank you!

I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan. I bought Westinghouse 77021 to replace the fan switch. I have black, white, yellow and blue wires inside the fan's case. Where should I connect these wires? Jane

Hello. Yhe most common combination for this wire combination is: L - White, 1- Black, 2 - Blue, 3 - Yellow . However this is assuming your 77021 (the fan) has three speeds and the pullchain has four wires. Here's a link to some very good troubleshooting advice: http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/ceiling-fan-pullchain-replacement-and-repair.php
and a link to Diagrams: http://www.hurontel.on.ca/~taitg/pages/cfan.html

Hope this helps, and don't forget to rate our help. Thank you.

Replacing a pull chain 3-way ceiling fan light switch

OK .. the thick black and white are the power for the fan , are there also white wires on the lamp sockets ..??
The thick black wire should connect to the black wire on the switch.
The small black wires connect to the red and blue wire on the switch .. two small black wires each .. that should give you a position for 2 lights , and 4 lights, on the step switch .. but there should be white wires from the lamp sockets connected to the thick white from the fan .

please respond .

Changing the 3 speed switch on my westinghouse ceiling fan

If you are careful and take the hot coming into the fan from the power source and connect it to the colored wires one at a time, you will be able to find which one is high, med. and low. Then connect them. Hot in is L, 1 is low, 2 is med, 3 is high

Trying to replace 3 speed ceiling fan switch and don't know which wires go where - 3 speed fan switch, 4 wire unit.

Hi
The pull switch has 4 wires, L, 1, 2, 3.
Connect ' L' to the reverse switch red wire or the wire that is free.
Connect ' 3 ' to the main black ( hot ) wire entering the fan.
Connect ' 1 ' to the capacitor's lowest uF eg. ( 1.5 uF )
Connect ' 2 ' to the capacitor's next uF eg. ( 3 uF )
the Capaciotr also has to be connected to the neutral wire entering the fan, usually black attached to another color wire. If you have a VOM tester, veryfy that it is a neutral wire.
