Electric motors shouldn't smoke.. They may ofren flash, this is normal, its just the brushes on the motor but the motor itself shoudn smoke.. I'd advise using caution .:)

If its smoking reom the exhaust the no, its smoking because its probably running too rich or there is too much oil in the fuel (incorrect mixture)

This model is a four cycle engine meaning that it does not a mix of gas and 2 cycle oil. You just fill it like your lawn mower, gas and fill the crank case with oil

My Stihl FS55 Trimmer gets a small amount of white smoke under full throttle, is that normal?

I recategorized this for you.

Yes, I would say that is normal as they are two stroke and burn oil to lubricate the piston, bore and crankshaft. If it smokes, you know it is OK. At full throttle it needs more oil.

What is fuel mixture on 25 cc craftsman weedwacker

This small engine needs a 40:1 ratio. Use only 2 cycle oil, not motor oil. If you are mixing one gallon of fuel use 3.2 ounces of the 2 cycle oil. This should give correct mixture so you do not get lots of smoke when you start. Take the time to measure. Note: there should be a marking somewhere on the engine about the mixture.

Starts but will not stay running. smoke blows out the back, would this have anything to do with the gas/oil mixture?

These amchines smoke a little, but if it is smoking a lot,.....either the gas/oil fuel mix has too much oil or the engine is badly worn. If it is the engine, power and acceleration will be lacking . Too much oil in the gas may eventually foul the plug...lest you mix up a batch at the proper ratio. 40:1 is good. 3.2 oz 2-Cycle oil to ONE gallon of gasoline. Always use fresh fuel in these small engines. If the mix is over 1 month old, dump it back into the can, pour it all into your car (won't hurt it) and make some new.

Homelite gas trimmer ut20602 from 1998 need oil mix it 40:1 or 50:1

Use the 50:1 ratio oil mix.the oil bottle will tell you how much oil that you will need to mix with how much gas you have,40:1 will make the trimmer smoke too much and it will foul plugs prematurely but won't hurt the machine.

Fuel mixture ratio

50:1 with fully synthetic 2-cycle oil, 25:1 with semi-synthetic or mineral oil.

I use synthetic oil at 50:1 - more power, no smoke, and no fouled plugs.

Having problems starting Makita strimmer. There is quite a lot of smoke coming out and then it stops. Have looked at spark plug -clean, and cleaned air filter. Could the problem be the petrol and oil mix.

Use 50:1 gas/oil with a GOOD QUALITY 2-cycle low-ash synthetic oil.

Remove the muffler and check the spark arrestor isn't partially blocked.

With a clear muffler, and the mix as described, there will be hardly any smoke at all.

Oil ratio

you can use a 40:1 mix if it smokes then cut it back to 32:1 but a little more oil is better than not enough so start with the 40:1
