yes the problem can be on any laptop but how to fix it on a PC I have no idea. You have probably tried the official uninstall.
It seems that when AVG updates, it automatically downloads additional software onto your system without asking permission. On a Mac it is set as a startup item. That can be removed by going to "system preferences", "accounts" and removing it under "login items". But like I said - PC's have different procedures
