If it's leaking you either have a bad transmission gasket or your front or rear seal is bad.
Also, make sure your transmission lines are not lose or damaged.
Hope this helps & good luck.

To find out if it's oil get a oil leak detection kit. The kit contains a dye, light and glasses. Simply put the dye in oil fill location run and drive vehicle. Park vehicle shine light on new marks if they glow you have a oil leak if not it could be transmission fluid

When bleeding the radiator i found coolant leaked into power steering reservoir how would this happen

When bleeding the radiator i found coolant leaked into power steering reservoir how would this happen? =============================================
1. Not enough information and you have not identified the vehicle either.

2. Coolant cannot leak to the PS system. They are entirely separate systems and unconnected.

3. If you have an auto transmission then in some models there is a section of the radiator used for cooling the auto transmission hydraulic fluid . IF there is a breach in the radiator between the 2 sections then coolant can flow into the auto trans fluid and vice versa. If you find there is pink hydraulic fluid in the coolant when draining the radiator then it will be auto transmission fluid.

In that event you will need to replace the radiator and to have the auto trans serviced now or the transmission will fail if the hydraulic fluid has been contaminated.

Power steering fluid leaking into engine oil sump, even while stationary

PS fluid cannot possibly leak into the engine oil. They are completely separate systems isolated from one another.

The only fluid that can leak into the engine oil is radiator coolant via a crack in the engine block or engine head or via a damaged head gasket.

On cars with automatic transmissions, there is normally also a separate circuit for cooling the transmission fluid built into the radiator. The oil from the transmission is pumped by the transmission through a second heat exchanger inside the radiator.
This is a separate system but if there is a crack in the radiator where the transmission fluid is cooled it is possible for auto transmission fluid to get into the radiator coolant via a crack in the right area. If auto transmission fluid has got into the coolant an inspection of the coolant will show it.

Why wont my truck move when put in gear 2005 auto trans

What sort of truck is it?
Two things come to mind:

It could be a lack of transmission fluid/too much transmission fluid.

If it is a Land Rover/Range Rover product, the parking brake could be stuck on - they act on the transmission shaft on these cars NOT the wheels, so are more effective and will stop the vehicle moving.

Land Rover Discovery II 1999 will go in reverse but not forward. Noticed leakage of transmission fluid.

Check transmission fliuid level.
Transmissions work by having proper pressures. If the fluid level is too low there will not be enough pressure to engage it in gear.
Then find your leak and fix it.

Range rover seems to be running just fine but wont move in any gear

Sounds like you need to change your tranny fluid. If that don't help, Then you may need a transmission. But, before that, i would take it to youur auto parts store, and have them run there scanner on it. That will give you a better idea. Hope this helps, James Booth

How do I check my tranny fluid on my 01 Subaru Impreza?

I assume you have the 4 speed auto and that it is red auto transmission fluid which is leaking.

You obviously have a leak from the transmission itself, or from a transmission fluid hose, which must be identified and fixed urgently. The leaking fluid is no doubt coming into contact with the hot exhaust system (often by blow back) which will give you a burning fluid smell.

You must ensure you check the transmission fluid level immediately and top it up with the correct spec fluid. Otherwise the transmission will malfunction if very low on fluid and you will potentially damage it.

You need to need to get the vehicle to a Subaru dealer for service or to a competent/reputable auto transmission specialist to have the leak identified and fixed as soon as possible.

Gearbox overheated refer to handbook?

Transmission fluid has become too hot. Check the transmission fluid level (dip stick on passenger side near firewall), then check the transmission cooler, cooling pipes and fittings for leaks or breaks. For other possibilities check www.rangerovers.net .

My 99 land rover is leaking transmission fluid

I would have it looked at by a garage but if you are somewhat mechanical, you could crawl underneath and carefully inspect for the source of the leak ie. lines, transmission pan drain plug, etc. Remember that some people use transmission fluid for their power steering too and power steering boxes are notorious for leaking on these trucks.

Otherwise, I would take by a trusted local mechanic and have them inspect. Make sure your transmission fluid is topped off to avoid damaging your transmission. Instructions for checking this are in your owners manual. Let me know what you find.
