Hello Herbert,
Thanks for posting your problem in Fixya. The statement made by you clearly shows that you have upgraded your Internet Explorer browser to a newer and enhanced version. The newer and better browser works in the same way as the older one did. All you need to do to access your email is to sign into your mail provider domain, like, or with your credentials, and you are done.

Hope this helps,

I had IE 8 but decided to upgrade to IE9. However itas messed up my virginmedia webmail page so I want to go back to IE8 but Microsoft is not offerring IE8 for Windows 7. what is going on?

have you tired a restore to take your computer back to before you installed the IE9

go to start
go to all programs
go to accessories
go to system tools
go to system restore
in system restore click restore my computer to a earlier time & click next, then find the day you installed IE9 & see if there's a day before ie9 that you can go back to
good luck

Internet Explorer 9 requires Windows Vista or higher as your base Operating System, it will not work on Windows CE. I would recommend that you purchase a copy of Windows 7, also compatible with IE9, from or similar retailer.

Here is a copy of Windows 7 you can buy (DVD) that will allow you to install IE9:

Keep in mind that you must have a DVD drive in order to install Windows 7. Yes there are other ways, but that is a bit more invovled. If your netbook does not have a DVD drive, you will also have to purchase one of those.

You can get an external DVD drive that hooks up to a USB port on your Netbook from here:

Also make sure your Netbook has at least 1GB RAM, otherwise your Windows 7 experience might not be very good.

Have just downloaded some essential updates from microsoft. Have now been told my Cannon MP640 wont now print off the web. I thing it was the latest Explorer 9 that did it but not sure. Cheers Robin

If you think IE 9 installation caused the issue then uninstall it and install IE8. IE9 is just barely out of beta stage and I feel might need to be adjusted or refined futher before full production use (my personal opinion). If it does not appeaer in your programs list then you could restore you system to a previous restore point. Check to verify that a restore point was created before IE9 was installed. After rolling your system back and re-installing the previous version you can install the IE9 blocker tool which stops the installation of IE9 through automatic updates. This tool does not prevent a manual installation of the browser, it only prevents the installation through automatic updates. I am currently using the tool on 5 of my personal computers.
I suggest using a virtual environment to test drive new release products to verify that everything works as expected before installing them on your personal computers and especially any work computers.

I am using new yahoo mail and just upgraded my browser to IE 9. Everytime I tried on attaching a file, the window keeps refreshing itself instead of appearing a pop up window to choose file location

IE 9 still has it issues one of the other things I do not like about IE9 is that there is also no spell check yet. I really suggest that either use Google Chrome or Firefox browsers both are good and fast which have the spell checks as well as additions that you do control. You can find the downloads Click Here for Firefox and Click Here if you decide to choose Chrome. I have used these two since their conception, just stay away from all the add-on goodies they are attractive but can muddle up your browser speed.

Your problem will be resolved. IE9 is new and still BETA but they will not tell you this. So there are quirk's frankly that I as well have seen and not willing to use yet. Of course it is always user preference. Thanks for using FixYa! John

You should be able to download and use IE9 as long as your processor is at least 1GHz, 512 Mb of RAM and 70Mb of free hard drive space. If its not working contact Microsoft support

Have installed IE9 beta over IE8, but IE 9 beta dont have flash point to play video on 32 bit vista. is it OK to upgrade to IE 10 or can be deleted and install IE 8 or 7

If you installed IE9 beta over IE8 you can roll back to IE8 from Add or remove programs in control pannel. Is better to choose a stable version of any program, not Beta because beta is in teste mode and is not certified that is working with any software and addons.
