Hi,

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

goodluck!

Hello,

This calculator cannot handle symbolic algebra.

Use the rules to simplify the expressions: Get rid of the parentheses using distributivity od multiplication with respect to addition; group similar terms (terms with x, terms without x).

Hope it helps.

Todd is 4 years old.

Let Tom's age = X

Let Todd's age = Y

From the given facts:

X = 5Y

and

X + 7 + 6 = 3 ( Y + 7 )

X+13 = 3Y + 21

X = 3Y + 8

So if:

X=5Y

and

X=3Y+8

Then:

5Y=3Y+8

2Y=8

Y=4

I hope that helps.

Joe.

Do you really need a calculator to solve a linear equation?

Let us see how to solve it without a calculator.

Remove the parentheses fronm the second term on the left : y-3

Use the distributive property on the last term on the right side -2y-6

Take the term -3 to the right side, changing its sign in the process (becomes +3)

Take the -2y term to the left making it +2y.

3y +2y=18+3-6 or 5y=15 and the answer is straightforward .

As to your Casio FX300ES, it cannot solve equations because it does not have an EQUATION calculation mode. The Casios FX-115ES and FX-991ES have an Equation Mode. If you use any of the two to solve an equation in one variable (linear, quadratic or other) the unknown is taken to be x by default. You would have to change the name of the variable from y to x.

Just solve for 1 variable.

x+2y=4

2y=4-x

y=(4-x)/2

Now you can graph this and find all the values for x and y that give you the solution.

If you mean this to be a logic statement, it will always be false (0). You might be getting an error because you need parentheses around the whole thing.

If you mean the 2y=2 to be 2y 2 then y=2

If you mean the 2y=2 to be 2y-2 then y=4

You should give more info on your problem next time.

Hi bem4u2

If the question was like this: x+2y/9+5y then the order of operations would apply because it is a string of operations

But your question is the equivalent of a single fraction

In this case,

Take the numerator alone apply the order of operation

Take the denominator and apply the order of operations

Then it becomes a single fraction

Hope this answer your question

Have a good day
