Why is fan not working on outdoor unit?

Very common problem is the capacitor goes bad. The capacitor stores energy that starts the fan spinning. Turn ac on and take a long skinny screwdriver, or straighten a metal cotehanger and slide through fan cover and give it a little push, if it starts spinning indicator the capacitor has gone bad. They are fairly inexpensive for most ac units..and are pretty easy to replace. If you do replacethe capacitor is located in compartment with a metal cover on the side of outdoor unit. Be sure to kill power to ac before replacing, also the capacitor stores electricity..it can zap you if you touch the top of capacitor where plug connections are. Take a screwdriver and touch across the connection points and discharge the capacitor for safe handling..here are some images of what the capacitors look like..

Coleman ac compressor quit working

The black plastic capacitor is the compressor start capacitor, it is only in the circuit until the compressor gets up to speed. The black box is the start relay, it stays closed until the compressor gets up to speed the opens taking the start capacitor out of the circuit. The wires should go from it to the small metal round capacitor and the black box.
You can Ohm out the start relay, it should be closed between Terminals 1 and 2 and the coil is from 2 to 5. You can also check the 2 capacitors, you need a Volt Ohm Meter that has a capacitor testing scale. The microFarads should be on the capacitors you will need to cut the bleed resistor on the start capacitor before testing it.

Outside unit fan does not kick on just hums and you can hear a clicking like a breaker kicking on and off.

thats a bad starting capacitor .. the capacitor is a metal rounded box about 3 inch x2 inch .. it has wires going into the fan and into the compressor .. its usually mounted near or on the compressor ... there are usually 2 capacitors in one container ..one for the compressor and one for the fan .. if the capacitor is bad then the fan and/or the compressor will just buzz but wont start .. the motor will get hot until a thermal breaker shuts off the power .. then when it cools it will turn back on and try again ... if you allow this to continue it can damage things ... the capacitors don't cost much .. you can remove your old one safely as long as power is turned off at the circuit breakers for the AC ... note where the wires go .. usually they have "pull off" connectors that are different sizes so you cant mix them up .. take the old capacitor with you to an air conditioning parts house . or get your AC make and model number and contact the manufacturer for a replacement capacitor.. you can also take all the numbers off the capacitor and order a replacement off the internet .. replace the capacitor and it should fire right up ... if you call a service man .. tell him that you suspect the starting capacitor .. that way he will bring a selection with him or he might have them with him anyhow but if he knows your make and model number then he can bring an exact replacement .. ..

AC roof unit stops cooling after rain

No, the units are sealed and the rain should not have affected the system at all. I would remove the outer cover of the unit and access the capacitors. Your start capacitor may be bad. You can visually inspect this and tell if there is a problem. Small black relay on top of capacitor often burns out, if so, replace capacitor and relay. If this looks fine, then we need to start at the thermostat and work our way forward.

Thanks,

Jeff

Tripping circuit breaker

You probably have a dirty condenser coil or the con den ser fan motor is bad or the blades are jam that's why it overheat and shut off by overload.
