Question about Frigidaire FGX831C Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer
Hi, I am trying to help daughter-in-law get their frigidaire top load washer fws777ghs0 working after a recent move. When on the regular and delicate cycle, the washer fills and fills and drains and drains. I thought it must be a syphoning problem, but it doesn't appear to be the case, because it fills normally on the permanent press cycle. If we fill the tub on the permanent press cycle and move it to the regular cycle, the machine runs great....that is, until it gets to the rinse part of the cycle. Then the problem starts all over again. It fills and continually drains. Why would it work right in the permanent press cycle, but will not work in the regular and the delicate cycles?
Hello annp, thank you for your post! Based on the symptoms you are describing, it does sounds like a siphoning issue. Generally speaking, the drain hose should come up above the washer tub and please make sure the drain hose is not too deep in to the house drain pipe. The drain hose should only be submerged 4-8 inches into the house drain pipe. If correct, otherwise the unit might be experiencing a communication with the control board and water fill valve. At this point, please reach out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree - please do not hesitate to reconnect.

Check your outlet filter, most likely it is blocked, preventing the water from draining out. Chk your pump too. Before this disconnect from the wall socket; and also check the pipe coming from the tub to the filter. Siphon out the excess water from inside the machine before you open the pipes.

You'll very likely have something caught in your drain pump. First set the washer to drain and spin. If you hear a hum or grinding noise and the water in the tub isn't draining or it's draining slowly you have something in the pump. If you take the rear panel off you'll reveal the drain pump at the right front corner or maybe middle on this model. if you empty all the water from your machine you can take off the spring clamp (this can be tricky) attaching the thick rubber hose from your tub to your drain pump. (you may want to have some old towels ready) With this off you can feel around for what's blocking the drain pump's impeller. You may want to take the screws out that secure the drain pump to the base and the other spring clamp that attaches the drain hose to the drain pump. Good luck!

The cycle doesn't advance
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

Hi. this is a failed timer device. simply replacing the timer control module will eliminate these issues you are having.

Please be carful as running the agitator without enough water will overheat and kick out the motor, however it should be ok when it resets itself.
Yes, the machine should stop agitating when you lift the lid so this too is part of the problem.
After looking at the print I can only suggest that the cam contacts in the timer ( contacts 12 and 14) that start the motor are burned and stuck together.
