From what you said I gather that your AC/DC power supply (power brick) is not working (Suppling voltage to the router). Well this is a case of getting a new power supply. What you can do is find out the voltage output and the current output in amps of the Brick. This information is located in writing on the power brick. Take this information to your local electronics store and get a power brick that has the same voltage, polarity, and current rating as the old power brick.

My Sony Vaio VPCY115FG can connect to most wifi, except for Telstra. The main problem now is that we've switched our home ISP to Telstra. I troubleshoot the problem and the problems found are: 1....

hello. are there other computers in your house that are connected to your router? are there any other devices connected?

you should always start from your AP(access point) and work your way to your computer from there 9 times out of 10 it isn't your computer. Check that the filters are at all AP's in the house. also the router is beside anything that will cause interferance such as mobile phones, landline telephones, microwaves, radio's.

if everything is checked and the router is fully connected then you can check your computer. When switching from ISP's they will usually provide you a firmware disk so that the router will automatically connect with your computers IP. please run the setup disc if you havent already done so.

(when you change you ISP there is a usually a cooling period that you have to got through before they actually turn your line on. )

please let me know if the problem still persists after trying these methods first.

I got a new modem a few days ago and when i put in the password for the internet connection it keeps telling me that the internet has limited access and doesnt even let me log into the network, please help...

Hello Adrian,

I would recommend trying to log onto the router (normally by entering or in your web browser address bar) and make sure you are using the right password and check if your router is compatible with wireless N technology.

If your router is set to work with b/g and does not support N you will not get a proper connection.

I have an answering machine AT&T 1715, but miss the cord power, could you please tell how many amps need and voltage too

Check the bottom of your answering machine. It should have the required power adapter listed. At least my answering machine had a nice clear label.

My 1337 AT&T answering machine uses the DAS-2 power adapter. This outputs 9V 780mA. Googling the adapter number I found that the Lucent 1715 also uses the DAS-2 adapter. (The Lucent is probably identical to the AT&T but check your machine.)

I found a used one here: . There may be other e-bay sellers with the item.

I hope this helps.

I want to setup my Lucent AS40 answering machine

I had a problem recently when I looked online to find the manual for this model and a similar model, and thankfully I was able to solve the mystery and locate it. Even though the answering machine says it is a Lucent AS40, the correct user manual for it is the manual for the AT&T 1715. Once I figured this out, it was super easy to locate the manual on AT&T’s website... and sure enough, these two products are identical!!!

The user manual for the AS40 can be found at

I figured this out when I ran across an old article discussing a joint venture between Lucent Technologies (AT&T) and Philips Electronics. Apparently the two companies decided to merge together and combine their resources to develop technologically advanced answering machines. After the products were developed, each company marketed them under their name with a different model number, but both were selling the same thing! The reason we couldn’t find the user manual for the Philips model is because Lucent (AT&T) has the manuals!

In case this might help someone, I own two of these answering machines and can vouch that the user manual for the Lucent AS40 is the same as the AT&T 1715 and the Philips AD2735 is the same as the AT&T 1725. Here are the models that were produced during the joint venture:

AT&T/ Lucent 1715 = Lucent/ AT&T AS40
AT&T/ Lucent 1725 = Philips AD2735
AT&T/ Lucent 1717 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 1815 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 1825 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 7625 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 7630 = ?

Belikin adapters and a wireless gateway

If your router is not wireless capable you need to add "wireless access point" on your network so that your wireless computers will be able to connect wirelessly to your network. You can buy WAP54G of Linksys or other brand of WAP(wireless access point).

-- what is the exact model number of your access point and router?
-- what is the ip address of your access point and router?
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- Is your computer directly connected to the router?
-- Do you have a wireless computer? what is the model number of the wireless adapter

if you want to configure your access point with your router you may try the ff:
Step 1: Connect the Ethernet port of the access point to one of the Ethernet ports of the router
Step 2: Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet
Step 3: Check if the corresponding LEDs on the access point are lit
Step 4: After connecting the devices together, configure the access point’s wireless settings
Step 5: Open the access point’s web-based setup page
Step 6: When the access point’s web-based setup page opens, change the SSID, Channel, and Wireless Security.
