Question about 2wire 2700HG-B Router (2700HGB)

1 Answer

Occasional reboots the 2wire 2700hg i have setup at home seems to be restarting every 10 mins or so (at first i thought it was just lag spikes). all the lights go off and leave just the power light on. a manual reboot of the router did not fix this. it has been installed and working fine for a few months, could it suddenly become faulty?

My 2Wire router keeps on rebooting itself very frequently. I haven't used it for 5 minutes without it rebooting........is it something to do with the firmware

    same problem...

changed the modem 2 times wif singnet... and it still keeps happening... usually after 1 to 2 months and the thing would start all over again.

    the previous one: 2WIRE 2700-HG-B-2

I too have found this problem with the 2 wire 2700 and found that if the router tries to alter the connection speed and finds it cannot connect at the faster speeds it has to reset itself to revert back to a slower connection speed, so keep an eye on your connection speed which can be found in the routers settings on the initial page and check if the speed registered is faster than that of which your line can carry, if so then you need to contact your isp.

Unfortunately it's the phone line that sets the speed because of the distance from the exchange to your home, but you can try altering the MTU setting in the routers menu it can be found in Broadband Link section and click advanced settings and bottom right hand side of menu saying force upstream mtu.

This will probably be set at 1500, you can reduce it to 1493 but it may not work its any number between the two that may get the correct speed, but really the speed should be fairly constant, if not you should speak to your provider as they control the speeds from their servers.

I have a 2wire 2700hg-b modem/wireless router, my problem is i get lag while playing xbox 360 online, i get red bar to none , while my friend have all green bar,in the tv screen, also my laptop lose signal...

yeah a better modem would be the easiest thing to do because it's clear that the one you've got is either not transmtting properly or is just the unit you'vee got has a fault in it

I don't beleive it's your dsl, It seems to be a problem with your router, since it sounds like it is not broadcasting well. Consider a new router before ridding of your ATT DSL.

Dsl modem 2 wire is losing power

ANOTHER COMMON ISSUE: If your modem keeps restarting once the power LED turns solid green, the most likely cause is the power adaptor. Replace the power adaptor and all should be well again.
