That's a kernel panic, which means there's probably a problem with your operating system. Use the original disks to reinstall the OS.

SOURCE: Stuck on the restart your computer screen.

You may have installed something in the startup items folder that your mac isn't liking.
When you turn the iBook on, press the shift key as soon as you hear the startup tone. hold it down until you see the gray apple screen. This will get you into safe mode, hopefully then you'll be able to fix whatever you did from there. If you are still at a loss, get in touch.

SOURCE: during start up my ibook g4 freezes at the blue

The blue screen marks the start of the login process. If the Mac freezes there, it usually indicates that some third-party System Preference is hanging the boot process. There are several ways to diagnose the problem. The simplest is to hold down the Shift key after hearing the boot chime. This will disable third-party System Preferences and should allow you to come up to the login screen. Then you can review the third-party preferences and go to the website of each of them to make sure you have the most up-to-date version that is compatible with your level of the Mac OS.

I have a grey screen and apple on my iBook G4. No cd and I don;t know where to turn.

if you or a friend have another Mac, use it to start up the iBook in Firewire mode (hold the T key on the laptop when restarting). You can reinstall the operating system, or try to simply repair the disk with Disk Utility.

My ibookG4 says "you need to restart your computer..." different languages and that's all it will do after the chime.

Have your tried to reset the p-ram? Turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold the Option + Command + P + R keys. You must press the keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold the keys until the computer restarts, and you hear the startup sound a second time.
Hope this helps

When i try to boot my ibook g4 it gets stuck on a blue screen or the mac logo and it brings up a sign saying to shut down or restart.. i do this but it does it all over again..

The sign i believe you are referring to is a Kernel Panic, if it is a gray box that dims the screen. Example: http://www.ourhangout.net/archives/Kernel_Panic-1p0f.png
If this is the case, and you have your Mac OS X install dvd, try to boot off of the disc and use disk utility to repair the hard drive.

Sounds like your best bet is to restart with the Mac OS disk in the drive and holding down the C key. Then reinstall the system OS ... you should be able to do so without removing or altering any of your info files.

I cant get my ibook g4 to run it turns on with blinking folder

Blinking ? mark folder means that your OS can't be found. Take out your RAM underneath the keyboard and re-insert and try again. Nothing? Install a different new RAM chip and try again. Nothing? Install your disc 1 install disc, power down, wait a few seconds, now press the power button to turn on, now press and hold the option button, until your disc 1 shows up, select it, and bring your pointer to the right arrow on the screen and press enter. Now your booting from the disc 1. Go to disc utility folder at the top of the screen and select your hard drive and then select repair disc permissions. Then shut down and reboot when finished. Nothing? Your hard drive is fu.k.d-Try re-installing the OS. Nothing? Your hard drive is really fu.k.d-You need a new hard drive. Installing a new hard drive in the iBook is a *****. You may want to pay someone to install a hard drive or you can just get a new laptop.

My iBook G4 continues to run slowly and/or freeze

Try resetting the PRAM by turning on the iBook then holding option + command + P + R and wait till u hear another chime. If it still freezes, it may indicate an application may be causing it to lock up hold shift after you hear the chime to boot OS X into safe boot.

Computer won't work & shows a file icon w/a"? and a smiley face"

the "?" and the "smiley apple face means it couldnt find the osx to boot from. this can be cause by a bad or deleted file or a failing / bad harddrive. it sounds like a bad harddrive since it doesnt find the destination.

Ibook g4 - screen will not appear

Try adjusting the monitor brightness (F2). If you have an extra monitor, try connecting the mini VGA to see if it outputs a signal extenally. The videocard is onboard the logicboard....so, that is one way to process of eliminate.

Also, if you start the machine after the apple chime, hold down the OPTION key. This will prompt you as to which bootable volume to boot from. What this does though, is gives the monitor a signal before the operating system loads.....this usually eliminates the issue being software, but very seldom is no display a software issue.....

Hope this helps.
