My HPvs19e monitor doesnt turn on anymore. The cables and connections are good. When I unplug the power cord for a while,
then try it again, it briefly turns on (blue light) then turns off after a second or two. After that, it won't do anything. (Maybe the cord doesn't have anything to do with it - it was just the waiting part that allowed it to start briefly.) I was reading some griefs and it seems like there are some capacitors which need to be checked? If so, what kind should I get and how much are they?

- My monitor was purchased about 18 mos ago. It worked perfect the day before this happened. It worked once again for a few hours the next day after this incident (don't know why) but now looks like it is permanently disabled. I've fixed many things around the house by taking them apart. I wouldn't normally try any circuit board work, but it seems like the culprits are already identified. If necessary, I have sources at work who do this stuff every day. I'm waiting for HP to respond back to my issue. Unless they offer me a reasonable trade or something, I plan to try to fix this myself. Thanks.
mhellie1, Sounds like a typical power supply problem. One thing you and many hundreds of others fail to state is the AGE of their monitor, or calculate the number of hours (+ or - 20%) the unit has on it! It does help! Also, you didn' say if it was working PERFECTLY the day before, or that it failed when in-use. YES, These lcd/fpd monitors (all brands) are notorious for doing exactly what you have described. Here are some options that you as a consumer have. First will be awarranty claim with the manufacturer. If not, then ask if they have a monitor swapout program. You send them your's+$60-$90, and they send you a Refurbished same model, with new CCF tubes, INVERTER+Switch-Mode-Power-Supply installed. Or you can check your local TV/Monitor repair shop to see if they know forwards and backwards all about SMPS/INVERTER supplys and Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent Tube replacement. LCD monitors require BACKLIGHTING so you can see what is on the lcd panel. (screen) The technology is similar to the new style screw-in light bulbs. Compact-Fluorescents. Only your tubes are thinner and straight and hung horizontally in front of a mirror on the other side of the lcd/fpd you look at. Get back back to me if you want to try to repair this unit yourself. (not recommended for novices) Yes I have replaced capacitors and lucked out on a couple of them. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com BYE for now.

Today I recieved a monitor from a friend. It is a HP vs19e, and he said it was broken. He had recently bought a new monitor, so he figured that I would like to fix it for myself.
Anyways, when I tested the monitor, it blinked from black to grey every few seconds when the Video cord was plugged in. It never shows the Bios or the usual " No signal"
My problem is not that of power like many others that have used this monitor.

I recently connected a new monitor to my pc. For some reason, even after the computer is off the monitor stays on. There are no settings that I could find related to this issue, only options pertaining to monitor power when computer is on. Ideas?
