Question about Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Canon MX870 print alignment. Only occurs

Canon MX870 print alignment. Only occurs printing black ink on "standard" quality. Does not occur when printing colored, or when printing black and "high" quality print. Issue is that printed lines that run down the length of the A4 page are not aligned. Segments 13mm long are straight, then the next 13mm are offset by 1mm to left, then next align with first 13mm set. When printing text, this translates to some text printing as italic when it should not. Print Head Alignment (both auto and manual) do not resolve issue.

    CORRECTION:-

  • Rhys Jones Aug 18, 2013

During Print Alignment etc the printer only actually prints in the one direction (not using bi-directional printing), so the output comes out good. However, when normal printing is performed, the output is offset 1mm when the printhead reverses direction across the A4 page. I have cleaned the clear perspex strip on both sides with metho - no improvement.

Reinstall the printer driver. Sounds like it is corrupted.

My Canon Pixma ip6000d isn't printing any images or text. There is plenty of black ink, I ran the tests for alignment and nozzle check. The paper feeds through fine and it sounds and acts as tho

Did you try a test print. Most printers have a option to set the ink color, this is done when your computer asks you if you want to print. Look for an options tab and search for ink color options pick black only and try a test print. The test print is done on printer set up. If all else fails try the manual it usually has a troubleshoot section. Oh yes make sure you have the correct usb port some are configured at a lower level ( mine has 2 different ones a 2.0 and a 3.0 the 3.0 is blue when you look inside of it) my 2.0 port wouldn't set up my printer I had to use the 3.0 port. Hope it helps you some!

I have a canon mx870 and it will not print from the cassette lower tray, even if it is set to it, it always wants to print from the rear, even if it is closed!

It may be that, if it's not the tray allocation settings causing the problem, some printer maintenance will fix this. I had this problem, after I had only had my MX870 a couple of months. Suddenly, it would not print from the cassette even when printing to standard A4 plain paper. Nor would it print from the cassette even when I changed the printer settings from 'automatic' tray selection to print always from the cassette. After seeing something online, I then ran some of the MX870 maintenance applications, first 'Cleaning', then 'Print Head Alignment', and finally 'Roller Cleaning' for the cassette rollers (for which you have to remove all paper from the cassette). The problem has been solved (at least for the moment).

Changed cartridge--now paper gets stops by cartridge carrier. turned on and off, reinstalled cartridge, cleaned roller.

Press the OK button.
- If paper is being fed at error occurrence, the
error is indicated after the paper is ejected.
- If the error occurs, the print head alignment
values are not changed.
- After exit from the error by the OK button,
the automatic print head alignment will not
be re-done.
The error will occur when the print head

or non-ejection of ink.

I keep getting this message when I try to align the print head. An error occurred during automatic print head alignment. Press the printer's RESUME button to clear the error. Refer to the user's guide to...

The print head is the carriage that holds the ink cartridges and has tiny nozzles on the bottom that spray the ink on your paper. The nozzles have to be aimed (aligned) either automatically, or in WinXP with the following manual process:

1 Left click on the start button
2 Open "Printers and faxes" on the Start menu.
3 Find your printer on the printer list and right click on it once.
4 Select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
5 Click on the "Maintenance" tab at the top of the new window.

A selection page for all sorts of upkeep items is then shown. Manual alignment of the print head is one of the choices.

Problem with Canon MP730

hi, i was having the exact same problem with my printer. and i also tried reinstalling the driver. after reading your post i decided to see if the printing problem occurred when i used the other colors, and it looks like it's only a problem with the black ink. i printed out a sheet with the text in red and another in blue and they came out perfectly. but the black grid that surrounded the blue text, still looked problematic.

so... that means that the black ink is the problem. i haven't tried putting in a new cartridge. did you say that your problem occurred after you put in a new black cartridge, or did you try putting in a new black cartridge and you still had the same problem?
