When you removed the float no jet should have fallen out. If you take out the retainer pin for the float you will be removing the bowl float and needle valve. The head of the needle has a shaft that fits onto the tab of the float bowl and fits into the hole where the needle valve seat is.

My 1977pe250 Suzuki won't start and is flooding is it the float or what

Could well be. Take the carburettor off and remove the float bowl in the bottom Carefully remove the float by sliding the fixing pin out. Check the fuel inlet jet for particles. Reassemble. Take your plug out, check the gap, and warm it up with a gas torch to clean it of petrol and oil. Brush with a wire brush. Screw it back in warm and start the engine with no choke.

My scooter will crank but will only stay running at 3500rpms if i turn it down it will cut off.what is the issue?

Sounds like carburettor problem, blocked idling jet located inside carb, remove the float bowl (bottom section of carb) The main jet is the one in the centre (+ - 6 - 8mm in diameter) and the idler next to it (smaller hole + - 3 - 4mm) use a decent small flat tip screw driver to remove the idling jet (and do not slip) as this will damage the brass locating slot of the idling jet, once removed blow compressed air through the idling jet hole( about 0.3mm hole) or use a strand of wire from steel wire brush( welding brush) to dislodge the blockage in the idling jet. NOTE: Carefully remove the float bowl and do not to let the float pin holding the float slide out as you will loose the needle located under the float! You should be able to see through the tiny hole of the jet by holding it up to light. Assembly should not be a problem, just backtrack.
Let me know?
Regards
Phillip

Little brass piece with the hole in it and the o ring fell out when I took the bowl off my 17.5briggs. I must have put it back in the wrong place when it back together. Does anyone know where it goes?

Is it a Nikki carb? The little brass piece is the main jet and goes in the long tube in the center of the plastic piece that holds the float and float needle. It is inserted from bottom side and seats in the top of the tube.

Xl250 r 1987 where is the pilot jet located

Remove carburettor bowl and the pilot jet is just forward of the main jet and emulsion tube. If pilot jet is blocked either carb clean or strand of electrical wire will clear it then blow out with compressed air. Fuel mixture screw is just forward of float bowl. Start at 1& half turns out from seated.

How do you clean the jets

Take carbs off the bike drain any fuel that might still be in carbs, remove black top and the spring, carefully remove the rubber diaphragm, the slide and jet needle will come out, turn them upside down, remove float bowl, remove float, remove the little brass jets, the smallest one is the pilot(idle) jet,the larger one is main jet, then there is a needle jet, soak in carb clean if possible,if no clean then small bread tie to clear the holes.(carb kit),do one at a time so not to get parts mixed up.

My 5.5hp honda is surging even with the belt off.is this carb. only or are thier orther factors, such as bad gas

Bad gas can cause the engine to surge, but also the carb bowl and jets need cleaning. I usually drain the gas, remove the bowl, wipe inside the bowl , and then use a carb cleaner to spray the float and jet/s. The float may be hanging up. It would be best just remove the gas and clean the bowl area and float/jets. I wouldn't think replacing the carb. is the problem.
