Question about GE DBXR463EBWW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Error E03 There is a possibility that it could be that the outlet thermostor is a generic one vs a GE. It as well as the original one tests resistance of 8 k-ohms which is what it should test when it's 200'F...at 77'F it should read 100 k-ohms. There is a self diagnostic program and that is where the error reading of E03 came from. I have a chart of error codes but E03 isn't on it and Jacoby's doesn't have a chart that gives it and GE claims they don't either. The guy at GE (phone answerer) thought it might be the outlet thermostor. Anyone know how to solve this error? I can't find it in any manual and GE says they don't know it. Help!

Besides error code, what is problem? Sometimes you get false reading in error codes, which if you reset dryer it will go away. It could be a loose connection on the ribbon or nothing at all.

Sunfire true subwoofer signature one 7.5A internal fuse keeps burning out. what are possible causes and how to repair?

If you have an ohm meter (resistance) test for 7-8 ohms across each set of speaker leads to your sub woofer. Its likely you have blown speaker (load is causing amplifier to draw to much current) or just a bad amplifier in the sub (likely not worth $ repairing vs new). To test the sub woofer speaker itself you may have to take it apart to test its resistance.

How to troubleshoot your laptop at start

When you plug in the power adapter and press on the power button, there is no signs of life at all. The laptop will not make usual noises, LEDs will not light up, the fan will not spin, the screen is blank and black, etc… In short, the laptop is dead. What you can do in this case?
1. Make sure the wall outlet is working and the laptop DC adapter is getting power from the outlet. Try another wall outlet.
2. Test the laptop DC power adapter, make sure the voltage output is correct. You can test the DC power adapter with a voltmeter.
3. Let’s say the DC adapter is fine and the adapter outputs correct voltage. In this case unplug the power adapter from the laptop, remove the battery, wait for 1-2 minutes, plug in the adapter and try turning on the laptop again.
OK, you tested the adapter and it’s bad. If you decide to replace the original DC adapter with a generic one, you’ll have to follow this rule:
The voltage output on your new adapter has to be exactly the same as on the original adapter. The amperage on the new adapter could be the same or higher.
If nothing helps and the laptop is still dead, apparently the motherboard is fried or there is a problem with the DC power jack. It’s possible the DC power jack is broken and the motherboard is not getting any power from the adapter. In this case you’ll have to disassemble the laptop and replace the power jack.

Stereo shuts off at 69

This could be due to the systems overload protection kicking in, which under normal circumstances shouldn't happen, I suggest moving the speakers next to the amplifier and if possible use anew piece of wire to test the speakers start with one and test each individually. I think you possibly have a small short in one of the wires. Or one speaker is damaged. Measure the resistance between each speaker wire pairs. The speaker will probably be either 4 or 8 ohms check that this is the case. Read the speaker labels for clues. Were they the original speakers supplied? by the same manufacturer?

GE JE1160 1100 Watts Microwave Oven seems to have no power. The wall outlet tests ok but the microwave appears dead. It worked fine yesterday.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Often it is a simple part replacement. There are 4 parts that can usually cause this.
- The Fuse fails as a result of another component failure
- The most common failure is the power diode. You remove the chassis to gain access and then make sure you hold a screwdriver by the HANDLE and ground the large capacitor at least 3 times across the terminals. Then you can check the diode by using an ohm meter across the terminals. It should read continuity in one direction only. (reverse lead polarity) If it reads in both directions OR there is no continuity then the diode has failed.
- Next you test the high voltage capacitor by reversing the leads and watching each time for a jump in resistance then the meter returns to infinity. (Diode must be disconnected) No jump in resistance after reversing the test leads or constant resistance = bad capacitor.
- Lastly the Magnetron could have failed. You read resistance of the leads of the Magnetron with one lead disconnected. You must read resistance. No resistance = bad magnetron

I used model JE1160WD001 as an example since you did not include a complete model number. However, the parts I am referring to are common to all JE1160 models.

All parts except the fuse can be found here:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=212857

The fuse should be a 15 Amp 125 VAC Slo-Blow Fuse. Available at any hardware or Appliance parts source.

A failed door interlock switch will cause the fuse to immediately fail if the micro-switch fails in the door open position.

This is a pretty simple microwave and you should be able to bring it back to life. Just keep in mind repair parts costs vs replacement if you have failed magnetron.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

There is a very very remote possibility that the high voltage transformer has failed but the instances of a failed transformer are maybe 1 in 300.

When you open it up look for any signs of burned or hot wires / contacts then perform the tests in the first paragraph above.

You should be able to breathe life back into your microwave by troubleshooting. One thing to note is you can walk into a LOCAL Appliance parts supply with failed part in hand and purchase GENERIC parts to save yourself loads of money. The diode lists for over $50.00 and I know for a fact you can buy a non-GE one for less than half that at a local Appliance Parts source.

Short circuit in my house

You need to turn off the main supply and use a multi meter on the ohms setting, measure the resistance in the outlets power + ground, then return + ground and power + return An average reading should be obtained on the rooms not affected, then the tested pair with the lowest resistance will help isolate what line to start from at least. But my guess would be inadequate electron pathway, either in the form of undersized cable diameter or a bad contact, unfortunately I cannot advise unlicensed people to try inspecting it visually by removing the outlet and directly testing voltage on wires where they attach to the back of the outlet, so I won't, but that is what a licensed electrician would possibly do, and or replace outlet sockett.

My vs-60607 has waving lines

postive 9v regulator on the signal board and possible capacitor right next to it. the regulator is generic 7809. if you test the output it will be 6 or 7v needs to be 9. when the lines go away it is warm and will read 9v. so do the test cold. i'm assuming you know how to use a multimeter. if not then a local repair shop can do this for you.
