Question about HP Hewlett Packard LaserJet 5200 Printer

How do I clean the printer?

Hi, The only link I can find on HP and other resources for cleaning a printer (which is causing streaks) is to do it on the printer menu and print out a cleaning sheet. This worked a bit, and the printer isn't too streaky, but I want to clean it manually. How do I do this?

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the product The ink nozzles on the printheads might clog if they are exposed to air for more than a few minutes or if the product is not used for long periods of time. Follow these steps to clean the electrical contacts on the printheads. CAUTION: Follow these steps carefully to avoid damaging the sensitive electrical components.

  1. Make sure that the product is turned on.
  2. Open the top cover of the product.
  3. Press and hold the OK button for five seconds. The carriage moves to the left side of the product and stops. Release the OK button.
  4. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  5. Unplug the product power cord from the electrical outlet.
NOTE: Do not turn the product off by pressing the Power button (c01346625.gif ). This causes the carriage to move out of reach.
  6. Lift the printhead latch. Figure 1: Lift the printhead latch c01448109.gif
  7. Lift the handle on the printhead that the error message indicates is missing or damaged, and then pull the printhead out of its slot. Figure 2: Lift the handle and remove the printhead c01448110.gif
  8. Use a dry, soft, lint-free cloth to remove any ink from the electrical contacts on the printhead.
    1. Wipe the electrical contacts with the swab until no ink residue remains, and then wipe the electrical contacts with a fresh cloth to dry them and remove lint.
    2. After the electrical contacts on the printhead are clean and dry, place the printhead on a sheet of paper or a paper towel. Make sure that the ink nozzles face up and do not touch the paper.
    3. Use a fresh, dry, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the electrical contacts inside the product. Figure 4: Clean the electrical contacts inside the product c01448112.gif
    4. Allow at least five minutes for the contacts to dry. Check the contacts for lint or debris, and then dry or clean the contacts again if needed.
    5. Plug the product power cord into the electrical outlet.
    6. Press the Power button (c01346625.gif ) to turn on the product. 'Printhead missing or damaged, replace the printhead' displays on the control panel.

Ink streaks

Ink streaks are usually caused by a buildup of died in on the print heads. There are two print heads in that unit. Remove one at a time and look for build up - clean it if you find any. Once you finish cleaning both print heads you will need to do a print head cleaning routine in the HP software to clear out any in clogging the print nozzles.

How do I fix a dark streak down center of scanned document on HP laser jet 3330

Hello,

Lines and streaks are usually caused by ink or trash blocking the scanner pickup. You need to open the top of the scanner and clean the scanner glass. Here is a link to a guide that shows where to look for something blocking the sensor.

Clean the thin glass strip that sits to the left of the flat bed glass.

That is the glass used when the ADF is being utilized.
There is dirt on it causing the black streak.

Where are the printheads so that I may clean them to avoid photo streaking?

Hp in cartridge.
3 causes:
Empty
Left to long in hot dry environment
Incompatible 3rd party refill.
They are at bottom of cartridge and you can try to get them going with a few moist cotton swabs.
If you got 3rd party junk refill, forget it.
The head is that rectangular metal looking plate
