is one of these drives a new one? Have you tried to access it at the command prompt? Are the master and slave jumpers set? Have you looked in your cmos is not locks as to how many drive letters it can assign I would go to the command prompt and see if would find it there open all dos partitions it might been set private. hope that helps some

Your hard drive is missing from the system. Or, just does not recognize it. The obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player. Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB... Remove the hard drive and re-seat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key. Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

your reformatting the hard drive removed everything
it is now not booting from the hard drive because there is no operating system to boot from
you will have to put the os disc into an external cd drive , change the boot priority from hard drive to cd and get the os onto the hard drive

if this is a samsung, on the actual HD, you will see the jumper labels like the one below.

Usually it will say:

M = Master
S = Slave
Cs = Cable select

but if it is not visible anymore and you have 4 sets of pins, then the slave may either be the 3rd or the 2nd if you are looking at it from the back.
