Make this test and fix it. God bless you
Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ducts and/or replace the cycling thermostat.

Cycling thermostat

Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork . It will have 4 wires connected to it. 2 wires opposite each other will be closer than the other 2. The ones that are closer together should have continuity if it doesn't replace thermostat

SOURCE: dryer smelled of burning plastic, smoked stopped turning on

check the power cord itself, if you see on the back side of the cord a burnt or blackened spot then the cord is the issue

When dryer running there is a burning smell

Clean the lint trap and make sure you have good fan operation. Check your outside vent for good air flow. Could your burning smell be electrical wiring? Does it smell like plastic burning or lint burning?
These are things one needs to know in order to locate the trouble.

We purchased this product a month ago and it seems to be giving off a burning type of smell which we can smell both outside the vent and in the dryer itself. it seems to work fine

If it smells like an oily burn then it is just the oil burning off of the new parts in dryer, this is common. If it smells like electrical burning then call the manufacturer for repair. Could be a wire burning and if it is new it is covered under warranty.

Lent is damp dryer takes too long to dry and burning smell

Your burning smell might just be lint which has been loosened by you, getting onto the dryer's heating element. If this is the case, the smell should not last long, nor will it damage the dryer.

the burning smell may be caused by a belt some have a look at the belt

Dryer stoped running

Your drive belt may have broken if it smelled like rubber burning. If that is the case then your motor bearing are worn out or something has been lodged between your dryer drum and the dryer housing. If the smell was the odor of burning plastic, then your motor is probably burned up.
