This could be a lot of things, my approach is to start right at the beginning and work through the electrics to find the fault.

Start by making sure the power socket is working (obvious I know).
Check to see if the switch on the mixer clicks when you turn the back, also using a multimeter to make sure there is no resistance when it's 'on'.
Check the power relay clicks when the power comes on, 2 things go wrong with relays (1) Magnetic coil dies and wont move the contact arm, (2) internal contacts get dirty through use and don't make a good circuit anymore.
After checking those I doubt there would be much use looking further unless you're into electronics, as the rest is tied up with the variable resistor in the back twist housing and controls the speed of the motor.

New mixer did not come with manual

Hi MITCH, Happy New Year! Somebody at Sunbeam must have been asleep when the mixer passed by on the production line...duh? I hate when that happens. The good news is that you can download a PDF Users Manual from the Sunbeam website. Just click on this link Heritage Series 2353 Mixmaster and look for your M-I-L’s model to about ½-way down the page. Open the file and save it to your PC.
I’m not very keen with the way Sunbeam lays out their User’s Manuals. You’ll need to do some editing and repaginating to get it into a format that your M-I-L- can use, but at least you’ll have it. You can send it to her electronically or print just the English pages and mail; your choice.
Good Luck. I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA

My Sunbeam Heritage MixMaster mixer just stopped running while making cake frosting. Is there a reset button anywhere?

If it is plugged into a circuit protected by a GFCI breaker, which it should be if it is a kitchen circuit, reset the breaker. If you know for sure there is power at the receptacle you have it plugged into, then the power cord is bad or you have an internal mixer problem. You will have to pay someone to repair it or take the mixer apart yourself and find out what is wrong. Before paying someone be sure and get an estimate as to the cost of the repair. In some cases you are better off buying an new mixer as the repair costs will exceed to price of a new one.

Have a sunbeam heritage stand mixer model 2346-000.

Make sure the bowl is off to the side. I wouldn't get rid of a mixer just because the bowl doest't, if it's a good powerful mixer. There aren't many replacement parts available except directly from sunbeam. You need to get a replacement motor for the bowl turntable.

Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage Series Model 2350 speed problem

The speed control on the back is simply a variable resistance potentiometer, the same thing that controls the volume on older amplifiers. The output current to the motor is supplied by the printed circuit board in the bottom of the unit. This allows gradual increases in speed to avoid over-torquing the motor on speedup. Even the poshy-posh-posh mixers do this.

At least it still works. The most common problem is the cheap plastic drive gears that strip out with a mild cookie dough, this jams the beaters together and requires burial-at-dumpster.
