Question about Balboa Instruments Garden

1 Answer

I have a HS200VS heater in my hot tub. We bought it used. It always had an error code and would stop working in Standard mode, but worked fine in econo mode. Now we have no heat, but still have power. Need help. Do I need to replace the whole heater unit. and what is the replacement part number if so. It is an older hot tub. 2006 I believe.

Not enough to go on...
what error code did you get?
How do you know you have power? Is it proper amount of power?
Did you use a multimeter to test this?
Just lights on the control box, is insufficient way to tell for proper power.

SOURCE: need a users manual

Kathy,

I think what you're looking at are the part numbers for the heater and control systems used in some Jacuzzi hot tubs rather than the Jacuzzi model number. I ran into the same issue and discovered through some cross-referencing on the web (jacuzzi parts suppliers) that this is the part number control unit made by Balboa. Odds are they were used in multiple Jacuzzi models.

My suggestion: Look here http://clearcreekspas.com/model_id.html to identify the control panel for your Jacuzzi and then follow the link to the correct manual. Some cover multiple models so you will need to know the electrical requirements of yours (120 V or 240 V?) and then check the layout of each tub shell to determine which model is yours.

I figured out mine is a Jacuzzi Essence Model 350 this way.

Good luck!

SOURCE: great lakes balboa 2000 le wont change out of econo mode so doesnt heat up

Are there any error codes?
Is the control panel locked?
If no check your Hi Limit sensor, it is a thermal protection/overheat sensor which is the spas safety device. If that sensor is bad the spa will not operate/heat at all.

I bought a FreeFlow hot tub from a friend. The pump just continually runs for 15-20 seconds then shuts off. The temperature also is not rising, I can't seem to get it to work properly no matter what I do....

Thanks for your question. A hot tub is one of those items I personally do not recommend purchasing used, unless from a reputable dealer that can provide some type of warranty or service contract. I only say this because it\'s possible for them to have many many problems indiscernible to the naked eye.As for your particular hot tub, are there any error codes on the topside display? when the tub shuts off does it trip the breaker as well? it sounds as though there may be a problem with the circulation pump or possibly one or both of the heat sensors. it could also be the heater itself is not functioning properly and this is causing the system to shut off. Unfortunately, without more information, or looking at the tub I cannot tell you which of these to troubleshoot first. The only other option I can think of is to call a service technician to inspect the tub,a service call runs about $60-$90 per hour, If you could give me the error code(s) readout from the topside we could establish a starting point, otherwise we\'re just flying blind & I don\'t want you to spend money replacing parts that still work. If you can post again with an error code I\'d be glad to go from there, I\'m sorry I couldn\'t help more...

Will a flow switch stop the tub of any operation

Is the board getting power, is the control lighting up?
Do you see any error codes on the top side control?
Improper flow will give you an error code, caused by flow issues or a faulty flow switch. Make sure all gate valves are open and the water can flow freely.
If not then check your Hi Limit sensor. This is the overheat safety sensor if it fails the tub will not function at all.

In econ mode my 1998 spaform hot tub does not appear to heat but it is ok in standard mode.

in the economy mode it will only maintain a temperature so that it will not freeze. Economy mode is mostly for vacation time or for winter if you are not going to be using the hot tub for an extended period of time.
Put it into the standard mode and you will be able to have a HOT tub and will function as it should

Master spa legacy hot tub pumps stopped working after refilling it? my legacy inspire hot tub was fine before i drained it, then after refilling it pump 1 sounded like it was trying to work and never turned on, pump 2 was working, so i reset the power and let it go through prime mode and still pump 1 was still not working but make the same noise and pump 2 still worked, i then left it on overnight and in the morning pump 1 and 2 stopped working completely, made no moter noise at all, so i reset the power and still nothing, the balboa vs series controller box makes a click sound but wont let pumps work at all, now i get 5 different codes dr, sns, hfl, dry and ice, so we bleed all the unions to remove any airlock, then reset power and still the same click sound, then we emty the tub and started over again and refilled it with hot water and cracked all the unions and its still the same click, so we found an article about reseting the memory on the balboa controller and turned off power used the j46 jumper turned power on then off again then took off jumper then powered on again the the lcd panel said a bunch of reset numbers and worked but still the pumps dont work? i think the balboa controller is not letting the pumps to even try priming or to even try to work it just clicks in the balboa? is there a reset for the sensors memory?? ive replaced the heater and sensors last year so its not broken i just dont understand pump 2 was working then stopped and both completly stopped working overnight?? can someone help!!!!!
