SOURCE: Can I upgrade my CPU to an Intel Core 2 duo 1.7

You are basically limited to what was optional on the model. So you can only upgrade to one of the following cpus:

Intel Pentium M 745 (1.8-GHz) with 400-MHz front
side bus (FSB)
Intel Pentium M 735 (1.7-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 725 (1.6-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 710 TJ85 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB;
operates at a lower temperature than other processors
Intel Celeron M 340 (1.5-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Celeron M 330 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB

And you are limted to 2gb of ram max on this model.

SOURCE: I GOT A HP PAVILLION

Welcome to Fixya

You have two options here.

1. You need to open the computer and clear the bios by using the jumper of the board or take the CMOS batery out and leave the systems for a while.

2. Update the BIOS of the motherboard.

Hp D8x43UA ABA

You have a laptop computer; it is more than likely that the BIOS will not allow overclocking for that unit. Most laptops cannot be overclocked for good reason; they have limited resources and poor cooling engineering. O/clocking produces high heat and they just don't have the setup for additional cooling. For the most part that also applies to most retail desktops as well. The majority of overclockers use custom-built units with CPUs adn motherboard BIOS' that are set up for overclocking, such as Asus and Asrock boards. I overclocked my home build unit, but installed a water cooled system and extra case fan. Standard retail etail units are just not set up with that kind of quality.

Memory upgrade aba d8x43ua

You can upgrade, your RAM, with the same voltage, and brand, but also brands like Kingston, or Samsung, Corsair, are good ones!
always, look on places like best buy, or radio shack for those.
I prefer new RAM instead of used.

Memory upgrade

Have a look at this site "www.crucial.com/uk". Use the "System Scanner" towards the bottom of the page left side, next to Memory Advisor this will scan your pc and will then tell you what memory you require.
Hope this helps.

HP Pavilion A200n (DF209A#ABA) PC Desktop best upgrades

Your motherboard is limited by it's 400 fsb. The fastest CPU that will work in it is a 2.8Ghz 400fsb northwood chip. You can upgrade the memory to 1GB of pc2100 ddr ram. As for changing out the motherboard, don't do it. The front panel connections will likely never correct correctly with a new motherboard.

Help

Hi vrytrigg
If you still have the old RAM inserted, try removing it and see if the new one works on its own. If it does then your RAM are incompatible with each other as they may be running at different clock speeds although they will both be compatible with your system. should you manage to re-boot the PC, there are a few sites online that can scan your system to let you know what type of RAM you should buy.
Hope this helps!
