I replaced my evaporator fan behind panel in freezer this was not spinning had to remove ice maker and panel to access got parts list emailed from kitchen aid and picked up part at local appliance dealer

you have a bad compressor. if the refig is under 5 years old then the repair should be in warranty to kitchenaid. Good luck Peyton

I had a similar problem where the refrigerator side was not cooling well but I could feel very little air coming through the vent in the top left corner.I blew hot air from a blow driver into the vent for about 1 minute which melted ice that was hanging from the bottom of the vent cover.Cold air started blowing harder thru the vent and cured the problem.

The odds are it is a circuit board problem...I had a huge Amana 27 cubic foot side by side and it did the same thing...I diagnosed the problem and replaced the circuit board ....which actually controls everything...one sure sign is to pull the unit out as the other person did and to access the back of the unit where the compressor is...(the comptressor should be on 85% of the tme....if it is not on and warm or hot to the touch then it is a circuit board problem....since compressors will continue to run if there is a defrost problem (most of them anyway), or an Ice build up, etc etc. I don't recommend a layperson trying to replace the circuit board (mine cost $115,) but if you do it is generally in the door mine was a long thin circuit board behind the fridge door handle. .P.S. the heat that the other person felt on the door and around the door seals is normal lots of people don't even know this heat strips exist until something haappens and they start feeling around...these heat strips are to prevent frost of ice build up where the door meets the fridge framd...which can happen due to the extreme temp difference between the two...(inside temp and outside temp).

My 18 year old refrigerator GE model TFX24FG freezer side is not keeping food frozen. Refrigerator side seems to be working normally.

The refrigerator side is at present working properly , but slowly slowly, it will also loose its cooling.This will happen because, freezer side is the side which cools first, then the refrigerator side ( also called as fridge side)., gets cooled.If freezer side is not cooling / freezing properly then fridge side will also loose its cooling ability.------------ And later on both section will loose its cooling.----------- As per the present situation, it indicates problem with compressor or problem with freezer side door not closing properly.---------- Or the temperature in freezer section is not set to proper cooling/ freezing.--------- So first inspect temperature, is it set right? If ok, then check the freezer door , is it properly closed? If ok, then its compressor problem.?
